I like the idea, if you need 4, of buying 2 from one company, and two from another. This insures two different lot codes. However, if Newegg included a descent 5 bay NAS system with this with an additional discount, I would be tempted.

Why don't any of the newegg/tiger/etc. have a "kit" which includes a Server/NAS/etc. for FreeNAS or something like that? Also, thanks OP.

I don't understand... Aren't most of the NAS not listed as "diskeless" a "kit" you're talking about? You can find those NAS on sale often, too. Maybe you meant you want to pay $400 for four drives AND a NAS?

Tempting, it's a decent deal.

At least $100 cheaper than buying separately.

I only need two, but have room for four. So I just might jump on this.

Why bother waiting for black Friday?

There's a lot of negative reviews on Newegg for this drive. 120+ 1 egg, 240+ 5 egg.

Anybody know what's going on?

It's the way they ship the drives. Barely any protection. That's why I try not to buy at newegg. Newegg had the lowest reviews for DOA hard drives.

Tempted but I'm finally using those regular Toshiba's from last December in my newly built NAS.

p.s. I know they aren't NAS drives but its mostly a dump site.

The Toshiba's I ordered were shipped in their retail boxes with four of them in a box. That box was inside of another box as I ordered a few more things though. I never had a DOA drive from Newegg but before those drives its been a few years since I ordered from them.
