Samash.com [samash.com] has the Bedell Heritage Series HGD-28-G Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar for $169 w/ free shipping. This guitar has a solid Sitka Spruce top, laminate rosewood back and sides, Englemann spruce bracing, real bone nut and saddle, dovetail neck joint and hide glue used throughout. This is $230 less than the next cheapest online available price and an amazing deal on a solid spruce topped guitar with hide glue construction and bone nut/saddle combo. I own 5 Bedell's myself and they are amazing sounding and looking guitars. I doubt this guitar will be around at this price for long.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Good deal. I have a Bedell MBA-17g and it is effing awesome for the coin i paid. A little different animal than the HGD line but imho this is a great deal if they spent half the care they did with my axe..

I just got an MBA-17-G, as well. Fedex is delivering it today. Zzounds posted one in stock last week and I scooped it up.

Good post. Fantastic quality for entry level.
Can't go wrong. Could possibly price match @ MF for more of a discount.
Pretty sure this is American made as well. Bend, OR.
Demo [youtube.com].
Demo [youtube.com].

And I believe op's prediction of not being this price long is dead on.

No, these are Chinese made, as were the previous Bedells. They are all QC'd in Bend, OR. Regardless, every Bedell I've received has been top notch. Bedell recently purchased Breedlove Guitars and has move all operations to their Bend, OR facility which is why they're selling all of their overseas stock. As far as I know, all future Bedells will be made in Oregon with most of them being high end acoustics. Unless something changes, I doubt Bedell will ever produce any more entry level guitars and probably will feel this area with Breedlove models.

I have no doubt these are every bit as good as the Yamaha's and Seagull's and various other solid top/laminate side guitars that sell for $500+. I'd also venture to say those guitars don't have bone nut/saddles, hide glue construction, and dovetailed neck joints. But I'm sure some idiot will chime in about them being made in China and that being the deal killer. And I'm going for the pre-emptive strike and saying "Whatever!"

Like others say these are chinese but who cares if they are a great value? On mine they did some heavy duty qc..... i assume they do with them all. The new Bedells are made in the USA. Bedell bought out Breedlove as i understand it. The new American Bedell's price tag will reflect that too, i am sure. Wink IMHO if you are looking for bang for buck and this is slickdeals duh...... these are hard to beat.

Heres' a detailed thread and actual pics of my Bedell http://www.acousticguitarforum.co...p?t=353817

..and heres a thread on Bedell buying Breedlove.

Thanks! I missed out on the last Sam Ash/Bedell closeout. I was really hoping for an Orchestra model but for $170, I can't pass this up!

Looks like 15% restocking fee for returns [samash.com]. Any comments on buying online vs in-store?

If you receive a guitar that has any issues, Sam Ash will replace or refund and charge no restocking fee. If you're only interested in buying guitars to attempt and flip on Ebay for a profit and then try to return within the 45 days if it doesn't sell, you should be charged a 50% restocking fee. Just ask all the clowns who bought numerous Bedells during the previous two blowouts and tried to flip on ebay how that worked out for them. Well, you really don't have to ask. All you have to do is browse on over to Ebay and look at all those pretty Bedells that are sitting there and not selling.

Definitely not interested in flipping; just undecided between this and something from the Seagull S6 or Entourage line (similarly discounted). Seems like they're fairly comparable for the price point?

I can't speak for the Seagull, but I can for the Bedell. You'll not find another guitar, regardless of name, that looks or sounds as good as this one at that price point. This is a ridiculous price for a guitar that has a dovetailed neck joint, solid sitka top, bone/nut saddle and hide glue construction. I don't know of any Seagull solid tops that sell for less than $400. As a matter of fact, the only solid topped guitar I know of even close to this price would be the Yamaha FG-700-S and that's $200 and is nowhere near the guitar that this one is, IMO and has none of the other quality components.
