ED: It is in fact compatible with Verizon's 4G bands. However, it does not support its legacy 3G or 1X CDMA networks, which are required for calling and texting. Verizon is rolling out VoLTE, but on a rolling basis on select phones only. You can try porting your number to a VoIP/text service and see if that works for you.
Regarding $100 credit card offer:
Personally, I think this is a terrible deal. There are often other card offers that give 50k-70k points equivalent to at least $500 worth of credit.
