Dell is offering the U2415 UltraSharp IPS Monitor for $279.99 plus tax, FREE shipping.

No coupon required.

http://accessories.us.dell.com [dell.com]

Not quite as good as the earlier deal, but no coupon codes are required.

I've been looking for a 24" to pair with my U2410 and decided to give this a shot. It's not a wide gamut monitor, but it has more modern connectivity, USB 3.0 and matches the aspect ratio of my U2410.

Go easy on me. This is the first deal post I've done...

Dell UltraSharp 24 Monitor - U2415 for $280 from Dell.com

No coupons, no rebates, just $120 off regular price limited time offer.

I installed mine yesterday - it is a beautiful IPS 1920*1200 monitor, great colors, solid versatile mount, etc etc...I got it for $252 on a very short lived deal several days ago. Already played games, watched movies - it is definitely top of the line panel. The frame around the panel is 5-6 mm, very slim. It came with DP to mini DP cable. Nice job for your 1st deal post. Here is the direct link [dell.com] to the product on Dell for those interested.

Also food for thought. One could squeeze another 2% savings out of this deal by using a cash back site. We're not allowed to mention the names here - everytime I mention one, the mods just keep deleting my post. Google it up - the one that I have in mind starts with the letter 'e'.

TU on a very solid deal.

Is there any perceptible difference for a home user, between this and the wide gamut monitor?

From a cursory glance, not really.

The price.

It seems Dell is using newer LG 6-bit pixel IPS panels, aka the same are in most high end TVs today. Samsung is using their own VA-IPS in their high end TV models and monitors. I personally prefer the Japanese implementation of IPS such as the ones used in SONY Triluminous TVs. Those are wide gamut Smilie but twice more expensive.

I wanted to be sure that monitor is good, and played games, watched several movies last night on it. Besides being super slim and sexy, the image quality is GREAT. Compared the Red Canyon image of Bing last night on my SONY and this monitor - they seem identical to me. VERY wide angles of view as well. Matte screen, not glossy.

In my opinion, the monitor is worth its money. Higher pro level models are in the $800-1000 vicinity - 8 or 10-bit panels.

OP beat me 10 seconds with this deal. I posted the $252 deal 4 days ago Smilie.

Unless you're a professional photographer or use photo editing programs (e.g. Photoshop) as part of your job, it won't matter a single bit to you. Wide gamut matters where your workflow really demands it and where reproducing colors are of the highest critical importance. If you're curious about the term gamut within the world of computing, Wikipedia [wikipedia.org] has a nice concise explanation that sheds some further light.

Dell has a solid reputation for making good quality IPS monitors. You cannot go wrong for $280 on this monitor. m2c.
