front page deal ordering changes over night
minor annoyance:last night before I went to bed, the only deal for Thursday, January 24, 2008 was Samsung 20x IDE DVD+/-RW Drive (OEM) $25 but today, new deals were posted to the front page and the DVD drive is now 3rd from the bottom. It would be nice if the deals were ordered according to when they were posted on the front page. I only look until the last item I remember seeing and sometimes I miss a few deals. thanks |

Don't you go past the main page?
Some of the best deals never get the front page by the time they are dead. |

yes, but I scan the front page for deals that I didn't see in the forums.

That deal you saw last night only became 3rd from the bottom because these expired deals are under it. I prefer to not leave the expired deals mixed in with the "alive" deals. It just seems like it is better to have the alive ones be the first ones that people see when they click on the page. |

ok that makes sense.
but  if you're going to do it that way, then shouldn't you update it for all the expired deals in previous days too?

When they're expired, they are unbold and also say expired... I don't really see the point in moving them down too.

Agreed - reordering is awful
The problem is that it was so much faster and easier to check the site when I just knew that the new deals would always be at the top, and I could just scan down until I saw the deal that was at the top last time I checked. Even if it's expired, I want to see what I missed. Sure, unbold the expired deals, whatever, just don't reorder them. It really does detract from the site experience to force users to reread every deal to find out if there's a new one in amongst the ones that were there last time. We don't all use rss feeds, and we don't all click past the first page. |
