Sichuan Changhong Electric Co., Ltd. (Changhong) is a consumer electronics company based in Mianyang, China and founded in 1958. It is the second-largest manufacturer of televisions in China. In 2004, 90% of the television sets exported from China to the United States were made by Changhong.
They have over 32 thousand employees.

I think it will get you through your super bowl commercials.
BTW this is a big planet, you will not recognize many great manufacturers.
Do a little reading/research before posting an ignorant comment, as you may have a Changhong at home and not even know it. They are also an OEM LCD panel manufacturer, this is just their home branded unit.

That's BS. We've only ever had this deal at this price ONE time - and it was a +60 FP deal.

Not very cool of you to thumb down and threadcrap spouting misinformation like that.

So rather than discussing rhymes and deal per month occurrences, how is this TV? Anyone own it? I have an old Sony 46" which is still going strong but the quality is pretty poor with terrible ghosting effects. Would love something new but would also like something reliable.

people tend to "think" that a deal really isnt a deal anymore bc its been posted at or nearly at the same price a few times... its the proverbial aspect of it... you know where its "well known" to be @ this price now and so they consider it to be stereotypical. But I still think its a great deal and should be TUs for sure. If people want to make any negative comment it should be regarding that there is always a possibility of a greater deal next month on BF/CM but even then it shoudnt be TD bc of that remote possibilty that is a month away... I wish they would offer it at a lower price point without the chromecast and HDMI cables as I got HDMI cables out the waaaazoooo and have no need for a chromecast - so I would prefer a $30 price drop without the extras

ive read good things in prior threads and no matter how much they wanna make fun of the name, its a MAJOR manufacture/brand in the East. I think they should consider a name change though for the products they want to sell in the Western world, mainly bc of what you see in here, people find it hard to take them seriously with that branding name here in America.

Would this be a good replacement for a 2008 Sharp Aquos that just died in terms of quality of picture?

If people are in no hurry and just looking for the best deals on TV's, it just takes time and continued searching. I know one post here says this company has been around for years and made 90% of the TV to the US...so why is the name just now showing up?

If you are in no hurry, just continue to watch for special deals, that can happen throught the year (not just on BF).

Last great deal I got on a 50" was in Feb 2013, not the best brad (Westinghouse), but decent stats, 4 HDMI, etc. and got it when Target was clearing them out at $299. I did not need it, but could not pass on such a price and sold it to a friend and its still going string with a great picture.

I think a 50" for $379 is a decent deal (as long as the brand is decent), but not spectacular.

It's the first time I have seen it. Not everyone stalks SD 24/7. I appreciate people posting stuff. If it bothers you, don't click on it, and especially don't make a post with no relevant information which just makes this deal even more popular by upping the reply count.
agreed. plus, we routinely see wii u deals for the same price as well as other things that come to mind.

i for one didn't know that changhong was such a huge world supplier of glass, that's interesting too. i suppose there is an avsforum on PQ? or would any owners here that have purchased this on a previous deal care to chime in.

+1 no thanks to hdmi or chromecast
