Thread Details

I found the **tweak** to install multiple states in Turbo Tax, all you need to do is delete the following registry key for Intuit from here (make sure TurboTax is closed):

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2025429265-1960408961-682003330-5711\Software\Intuit\TurboTax Deluxe 2007\Pref

When you restart your TurboTax, reselect the file that you were working on and then when you go to State, it will let you download one more state for free. Repeat the same to download additional states.

Hope this helps some people rather than paying $34.95 for each additional state.

its actually going to be in HKEY_CURRENT_USER - that is what the S-1-5-21-2025429265-1960408961-682003330-5711 represents....

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Intuit\TurboTax Home & Business 2007]

run this from the CMD line to do it -

REG DELETE "HKCU\Software\Intuit\TurboTax Home & Business 2007" /F to do it automatically.

thanks for the "tweak"
i was wondering why uninstall and multiple reg cleaning didn't clear my wrong state download.

turbotax help suggests calling customer service if you select/download the wrong state.
forums suggest their customer service is horrible, so i was not looking forward to calling them.

this was a great find

Thanks that worked, repped and thumbed..
also there is an another way, for people who religiously don't want to mess with registry. you can create another user account and install turbotax with different state. Afterwards you can even delete that account it will leave both states.

for some reason it doesn't let me to rep you... so just thmb...

It's tax time again and I am hoping someone has figured out a similar trick for multiple states for the 2008 turbotax version. Any luck?

Install TurboTax Deluxe 2008.

Install first state. Close Turbo Tax Deluxe 2008.

Open the "Run" Dialog, paste the path below and hit enter.

%allusersprofile%\Application Data\Intuit\TurboTax\TY08

Rename the file "Entitlement_Deluxe.xml"

Restart Turbo Tax Deluxe 2008 and Install second state.

Repeat for all states needed.

Hope this helps save somebody some money.

This allows second state to be installed successfully. I had NJ installed as first state and able to install NY as second state using the instructions above. However, I don't see the second state (NY) in the 'States' tab when TurboTax is launched. Anyone else having same issue?
