This is a serious question: can someone explain why these and similar toothbrushes are so expensive?

It may be just the market. I picked this toothbrush up a couple weeks ago and my teeth feel very, very clean after every use. I brush for 2 minutes as it instructs and I feel like I'm walking out of the dentist's office. The first night I remember lying in bed licking my teeth, amazed at the cleanliness. Never going back to standard toothbrushes. Btw, I paid $100 after $30 MIR.

I have oral-b 1000. Is 5000 really that much better? it costs about 3 times as much. i've been using the 1000 for 5 years or so and i like it.

so what's the big difference between the deep sweep and professional series for oral-b? Prices are nearly identical for the 5000 version of both.

I've had both and the 5000 wasn't worth it for me since I never used any of the other brushing modes which I found too gimmicky. The standard 2 minutes with 30 second intervals was all I ever used.
