How about putting a limit on the number of threads per day that can be started in each forum? Would that help?

I sent a MA saying that this was a great idea and nimaim started this new thread here. OP probably doesn't even know their post was turned into a new thread LOL I think most would agree that SD would be better if Selma could somehow be curbed from starting so many HD threads, many of which are not slick deals. Limiting the number of threads you are allowed start in a day in the Hot Deals forum is a brilliant idea, and such an obvious one too! I'm pretty sure that on any given day Selma starts WAY more threads than anyone else. As of 11am today Selma has started ***57*** threads!!! In eleven hours she's started 57 threads. That's just too many! I don't think that there are 57 truly slick deals posted by all SD users combined in any eleven hour period. You could limit new threads to 15 per day and Selma would probably the only user that would hit the limit on a regular basis. Limiting the number of threads a user can post will force heavy posters to use more discretion when they start threads. I can't come up with a single downside to limiting the number of HD threads a person can start in a day. Especially if the limit is set high enough that 90% of users would never hit the limit. Selma finds many good deals but she uses the shotgun approach, post EVERYTHING and hope some things will be popular. A thread cap would require heavy posters like Selma to use a little more discretion before starting a new thread. Imagine if we could get all of Selma's better deals without all the bad ones that get no TU. I'm sorry I keep mentioning Selma but she's just the most obvious example, clearly this rule would apply to all users (current and future) alike. Last edited by uscpsycho; 02-05-2008 at 11:42 AM.. |

I definitely think it's a step in the right direction. Personally i don't care how many threads anyone starts (except for those damn spoof threads...rotten kids!), but I can see how some of the prolific deal posters could be satisfied by a rule like this. |

Your swipe at USCPsyche was a bit underhanded I might add. Last time I checked, this was still a free country. ![]() As for your defense of code generated posts, I suggest you give Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines a good viewing.

Yeah I know what you mean, I posted a critisizm in his divine "Let's only have Thumbs Up now and forever" thread. It was pulled and I was warned x3 for it. The voting choices in that thread make for a very good laugh. I'd REP ya but you turned it off! |

I personally know of a few people who used to search for hot deals, but now no longer do because of Selma. Because of this all of us are missing out on hot deals because, let's face it, Slema only posts those that are easy to find (through email sign ups, FW ripping, etc). And seeing that you hate flaming so much, why are you flaming the OPs opinion in this post, hhhmmm? |
