The 1400 Watt (1.9 HP) Versa is selling directly from Oster for $124.99 :

http://www.oster.com/blenders/per...0-000.html

No rebates, new, it's the lowest price ever... I bought myself a spare Smilie

This compares well to a Vitamix 750 (~$600) but the cost of entry is much more reasonable.

4,5 stars on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Oster-1400-...865&sr=8-2

Funny bit about pricey blenders: https://www.yahoo.com/food/over-t...13951.html

IMO this is a front-page deal Smilie

Vitamix ftw. Thing makes snow out of ice.

I'd go for the Blendtec (or Vitamix). I have the Oster and am underwhelmed. Seems like it overheats rather easily. :/

Enjoy the ice chunks in drinks, or chunks of un processed food. Not that you are looking for an all in one unit, but it makes sorbet, dough, and soup to name a few. I've had numerous cheap blenders that die within a year or 2.
