Similar to this post for the 3TB, but the 4TB version has a better price/GB.

Free expedited shipping, sales tax to NY only.

The 4TB Elements External Desktop Hard Disk Drive from Western Digital is an external hard drive designed to fit easily onto your desktop. Simply plug this drive into a compatible USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 port and begin transferring data at speeds up to 5 Gb/s when using the integrated USB 3.0 connection option.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Comparison Between My Book and Elements

FYI
The biggest difference between Element and MyBook is the warranty. The Element series has 1-year and MyBook series has 3-years. So yeah in my opinion $6 more for MyBook is worth it.

These don't have hardware encryption, right? I don't see it listed on Western Digital's site. http://www.wdc.com/en/products/pr...d=260#Tab3

The My Book at Adorama uses hardware encryption for sure. I don't believe the Elements (this one) does, but I'm having a really tough time finding information on this drive.

EDIT: One source [mybroadband.co.za] that says the Elements does not use hardware encryption.

Anybody know if this drive requires standing vertical for long term reliability? Sister in law needs a few drives for her photography backups and she prefers to stack them horizontally... (even though stacking them one on top of the other horizontally doesn't seem to make sense to me for ventilation purposes since heat rises.)

For people who have PayPal, this may be a better deal. I got mine for $89 shipped after $10 rebate and $25 off PayPal.
