Are the purple and camo the same aside from color/finish? Also, does anybody have feedback on which finish is better? I'm not concerned about the color, but it looks like the purple is glossy whereas the camo is more matte.

edit 2: Removed the link to Amazon as this shows as $36.99 now whether logged in or not. I got one for $29.99 earlier today when I first posted this.

edit: Well, it shows $29.99 when I am logged in to Amazon, but $36.99 when I am not. I have prime if that changes anything...

Great deal for PC Gamers since there is no wireless support for the xbox one controller yet.

Yes, they both are the newer models with the transforming D-pad option. The chrome ones are very....shiny? But they do tend to attract smudges and fingerprints pretty easily, as I have the gold one that came with the Star Wars 360. The camo one is more like the normal ones, as far as the surface of them goes. So if you really like the chrome ones, then they're fine for the most part. But if you think the smudges and such would get to you, then it's best to go with a non-chrome version for less upkeep.

Be warned that the "chrome" on the Chrome line of 360 controllers (not just the purple, but the gold etc too) rubs off, you're better off going with the camo one.

You'll need a wireless receiver for PC. They're usually around $10 or lower on Amazon/ebay

Do you need multiple receivers for multiple controllers? Or can a single receiver handle several controllers?

I think you can use up to 4 controllers on a receiver, but I don't have personal experience with them.

Correct. My receiver broke after a few years, and I think I paid around $12 for a replacement on ebay. I did make sure to buy one that said official AND has the microsoft logo in the picture. I don't know how well the generics work (I'd assume okay).

Here is a listing for a wireless receiver for $9.80 with FS on Ebay: Product Link [ebay.com]

Quote :
Brand new original Microsoft Wireless PC Gaming Receiver for Windows. This is a genuine Microsoft product, not a third party knock-off.

This receiver ships without retail packaging, as it was pulled from a brand new controller bundle, and has never been used.

Driver CD is included, or can be downloaded at the link below. Install the drivers before plugging in the receiver:

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware...or-windows

The Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows lets you take your quality, wireless gaming experiences that you enjoy on your console and experience them on your Games for Windows platform.

Will work with future Xbox 360 Wireless Accessories.
Use up to four Wireless Controllers and four Wireless Headsets simultaneously with one Wireless Gaming Receiver.
Easily integrates with PC gaming scenarios and utilizes the same binding technology as Xbox 360.
Plugs into a PC USB port and has a six foot cable.
Official Microsoft drivers compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7 only
And it says only XP, Vista and 7, but my PC is 8 and it's been working just fine for me so far.
