We probably won't hear more details for the last 3 quarters until it's official. Note that this card and the Discover IT card both have cashback offers currently going on. Nonoverlapping gas station category months make having both nice to have.

Chase Freedom for $200 on $500 spent within the 1st 3 months.

Discover IT Card $150 cashback offer.
If you take advantage of an offer on our site, Slickdeals may receive a commission.

Discover and Chase 5% CBs for restaurants line up on the same quarter this year. If I'm not mistaken last year discover was the first quarter and chase was the second. Not a big deal, but I was looking forward to receiving 5% CB on eating out for 6 months of the year with discover and my new chase freedom card. Oh well, guess I'll just buy a lot of gas next year...

Can't you just use the Gas Stations category for gift cards to restaurants?

Yes, but I don't always remember to get them and a lot of the places that I go don't have gift cards. Will they let you buy something like visa gift cards?

I've wondered the same thing about VGC's at gas stations.

Googling the topic it seems it has to do with the code, or MCC associated with the gas station. Once we know they have the right code that chase accepts as a gas station, we have to obviously know if they sell the VGC's. Even then, we'd still need to figure out if they accept credit card payment. It seems it's YMMV with this topic from my brief research, although my info found is not current (always changes when you're dealing with MS).

No, I've never seen grocery stores as a category. That's a big improvement.

Thank You OP. I thought walmart would be sure on the list, but target as well took the spot due to the recent redcard probably. Smilie

I about maxed out on my Amazon CB this quarter- they take it to $75. Guess it's back to shopping at Publix next quarter! Smilie

I'm tired of Discover and Chase cloning their CB. I always use Discover first because you get a more back when you redeem for gift cards. Also it is obvious that Chase follows Discover's lead on this. I know Chase is bigger but Discover started it all.

Q1 is pretty worthless if you already have AmEx Cash Preferred.

I should have put off that upgrade until April.
