I saw this last night at just after midnight (eastern time) and thought, "Wow this is going to sell out fast!" ...and it's still available.

What am I missing? Have there been better deals for a 4K monitor? I REALLY want one, but I have to wait until AFTER Christmas to see if such a thing is possible.

I think its a combination of things. Even though most people who buy it seem to generally like it, some people were complaining that its a TN panel and has poor viewing angles, and that it displays fonts weirdly. I also saw some people say its not worth it to get a 4k screen at 28 inches (on desktop everything was too small and in games you can't really tell the difference on that size of a screen). Also this is a refurb with appears to be only a 90 day warranty.

That all said, 325 for this monitor is a steal. I'm still debating whether to get it or not. I think I would need to upgrade my graphics card first (just have a old GTX 460 v2)...

Because HDMI 1.4 is being replaced by HDMI 2.0. This must be a 2013 model.

Thank you for your reply. I happen to still have GREAT vision and I love everything on my windows machines being tiny (like 1080p on my 13" ultrabook). Also it seems like the HDMI 1.4 vs 2.0 thing might actually matter for a "monitor" whereas it may not be as important for a TV. I have to hold out because I care about my marriage and the educational future of my children, but back in my earlier days, I'd have purchased this faster than

1. Tons of people care about IPS. google it.
2. Brand new 28" 4k60 was just 330, and now standard price seems to be about 75 more at 400$. In case you missed the 330 sale, this is cheaper than 400$ that is true. Just make sure you want refurb. Personally fine with refurbs.

Not sure how that relates at all to the post you were quoting or to this sale.

This is a monitor without HDCP 2.2, that is correct, if that was what you were getting at.

HDMI 1.4 doesn't allow you to do 4K@60Hz, which arguably does matter for a monitor. Although in this case, that is slightly less important, as you can use the DisplayPort to do it (assuming your graphics card has a DisplayPort).

90 day warranty is too little for me to shell out $325, but thanks for the heads up anyway!

You were quoting a post about IPS and cheap 4k60

But you're right, it's true this monitor doesn't have HDMI 2.0. Only two recently released graphics cards have HDMI 2.0. Every single other graphics card is going to be running 4k60 through DisplayPort, due to this, unless they use a chroma hack. That means everyone using intel HD graphics, or AMD. I have a very strong feeling Broadwell will continue to force users to use displayport.

Warranty was a concern for me. I like the Monoprice one that can turn portrait too for $399

having 4K @ 60 hz on PC is important to you then you are going to need a card with dp2 or the gtx 970/980. Either way if you dont already havedp 1.2 you need a GPU upgrade to support 60 hz either way.

It is 60Hz if you use a display port.
