Vitamix knows about the problem but has not addressed it. Even though I now have the money to buy one I will pass. This specific problem will cost millions to fix.

Not to defend vitamix, but other blenders have the same problem from what I've read online.

According to a post on pg 2 in this forum, Ifyou've got a container that does this, you can call VitaMix and they'll send you another (non-affected) Not to sound all Slickdeal-slimy, but I suppose that would make the deal slicker because you could sell the old container to someone who doesn't care. http://windsorpeak.com/vbulletin/...eals/page2

Hi jn4jenny..

It's not something they have fixed.. it's a design issue with the blade hub..

YES they will send you another container, but it will still have the black dust issue. because the problem is with the Blade-Hub design.

The plastic cap beneath the blade is disintegrating into the blend..

over 25 people have confirmed that the replacement containers they received ALSO had the plastic dust problem..

Can we please not turn this into the same thread as others? Mention the word vitamix and you get a load of posts complaining and linking the exact same things. This isn't consumer reports.

NOT TRUE..

The Dash Blender and the Cleanblend, both on Amazon.. Neither of those 2 have the black dust problem.. even though their blade hubs are of nearly identical design..

Now.. it's not problems solved however..

I had the Dash for almost 3 weeks, it began to intermittently start and stop..

I also had the Cleanblend for 4 weeks, and blue smoke began to pour out of it when I was making soymilk... laugh out loud

But I must iterate, that the Cleanblend had the BEST blade hub and design out of all the blenders, vitamix, cleanblend...

Who has the WORST blade ? I didn't guess this.. but Blendtec.. this thing is just awful, and they opted for 0 sturdiness points.. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Look Godsfshrmn..

It's important we get the information out there so that people can make informed decisions..

And Vitamix has sat on their hands on this issue for so long, precisely hoping to sweep this under the rug..

There is also the case someone else first made in the other forum, when she witness a pregnant woman about to drink plastic dust laced beverage at a vitamix demo..

It might be ok for adults.. but pregnant women, and their unborn child.. That certainly needs more attention before they OK it..

Bring out the pitchforks. Spoiler: read any of the other vitamix threads.

It's so prevalent it makes me wonder if people are just using 'black specs' as a reason to not buy one, when they actually never wanted one (or could afford an overpriced blender) in the first place. You eat much worse every day. Ever ate at McDonalds or any other fast food? Have you seen what happens when you leave a McDonald's chesseburger outside for a year? Absolutely nothing. It doesn't decompose at all. Smoke cigarettes?? Exposure to second hand smoke? Eat out of plastic? Use a cell phone? Breathe air in a metropolitan area? Get out the tin foil hats. /s. My point is, toxins (or rather, presumed toxins) are ubiquitous and unavoidable.

I'll go look elsewhere for actual deals and stop feeding the trolls.
