Edit: A few folks have been asking how I found this deal. Simply, I knew that Intuit tends to create great new affiliate offers each year, and after a bit of hunting and pecking ran across this one. It would appear that it is a internal test page possibly used for affiliate proposal use. But where any competent IT department would never expose such a thing to the outside world, this is Intuit after all, so we win!

Dead. -12/8/14

DEAL STILL WORKING AS OF 10 pm EDT 12/7, but may take multiple attempts .

I figured how to make it 100% work: (if you want rep me #961)

open a private window
go to http://slickdeals.net/?pno=138808&lno=1&afsrc=1&trd=TurboTax
login to your account
log out your account
go to http://slickdeals.net/?pno=138808&lno=1&afsrc=1&trd=TurboTax
click on the CD/Download on the right hand side
add to cart
checkout
login during checkout
and you are welcome

I DOWNLOADED TT AND WENT TO THE EFILE PAGE - IT CLEARLY SAYS THAT THERE IS NO ADDITONAL CHARGE TO EFILE THIS RETURN ..

TRY downloading in IE InPrivate FIRST

If you don't get the good price, open a new INPRIVATE browser and try again. Don't log in until you have the $0/$10 price.

[/LIST]Steps:
  • Do NOT sign in to your account yet.
  • Click on the link under "Desktop editions" in OP.
  • Under Deluxe, click on "Buy Now".
  • Select PC/Windows or Mac.
  • Click on "No Thanks" for TurboTax Advantage.
  • Click on "Checkout".
  • You can "Sign In" to an existing account.
  • Order Total should be $0.00. "Place Order"
If you try and login to an existing account, it won't let you checkout without a credit card. NOT TRUE, you can checkout without a credit card even while logged into an existing account. If you create a new account as you go, and decline auto renew, it should let you check out for free.

Also, if you're already signed into your account. When it asks you to sign up for Advantage, just click "Turbo Tax Advantage Help" in the top right corner. It will open a new window. In the new window, click on "Cart" in the top right corner. You'll see your fully discounted software in the cart. Proceed to checkout and win.

If you signed up for TT Advantage by accident its really easy to fix. Go here:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/advantage/signin.jsp
Then hit change subscription, and hit cancel.
Then you can go to your main turbotax account screen and delete your CC info.

For those need Home and Business:
Buy the Premier for $9.99 and upgrade to Home & Business for additional $9.99 for a total of $19.98 for Home & Business edition. Much cheaper than buying the Home & Business directly which is listed at $79.99.

You may want to either order the CD or download it now, if you use the online version (Turbotax online where you fill it out on your browser), any special pricing will NOT hold and will reflect whatever the pricing is when you actually file. Last year I made the mistake of starting my return on a sale only to the price jump to regular price when I filed. Mad

IMPORTANT:
Quote :
Guys, don't get fooled by Amazon offer. Amazon has nothing to do with it. I used it last year and did get the 10% extra for the refund. But what I found out later was quite horrifying. After I printed my return I noticed that TurboTax is using some third party processor, Sunrise Bank, to issue your Amazon credit. The privacy policy states that they can do whatever they want with your Tax information such as sell it to advertisers whether they are part of their company or not and they are not giving you any options to opt out of it. Even with a huge refund extra 200-300 bucks in Amazon money is not worth the loss in privacy

TurboTax Online vs. TurboTax CD/Download Software

Which one's better? You decide! Below are the major differences between TurboTax Online and the TurboTax CD/Download software.

No matter which one you go with, you'll be getting the same quality product that has made TurboTax is the #1-rated, best-selling tax software year after year!

Cost

If you plan to prepare returns for family members or friends, or you need to file an RDP or CU return, the CD/Download software will almost always end up costing you less.

On the other hand, if you're filing a simple 1040-EZ or 1040-A return with the standard deduction and no state or other add-ons, TurboTax Online Federal Free Edition won't cost you a thing.

Other pricing comparisons between the Online and CD/Download versions:

TurboTax Online

Try before you buy - you don't pay until you e-file or print your return.
State prep fees are extra in TurboTax Online and include the cost of e-filing.
E-file 1 federal return and up to 5 state returns per login.

TurboTax CD/Download software

Buy before you try - covered by our unconditional 60-day money-back guarantee.
One free state product is usually included with the cost of Deluxe, Premier, and Home & Business; however, the cost of e-filing the state is extra.
E-file up to 5 federal returns, and up to 3 state returns for each e-filed federal return.
For current, direct-from-TurboTax prices for both Online and CD/Download software, click here.

Computer Stuff

TurboTax Online

System requirements are usually lower than the CD/Download software.
Prepare and file your return from virtually any computer or device with Internet access.
We update the program on our end; no downloads required.
Tax returns are stored on our secure servers and you must pay for Deluxe (or higher) to retain ongoing access to prior-year returns.

TurboTax CD/Download software

System requirements are usually higher than TurboTax Online. Windows Requirements | Mac Requirements
The software is installed on your computer.
The software downloads updates regularly.
Tax returns are stored on your hard drive or other storage device of your choosing.

More Comparisons

TurboTax Online

Lacks Forms Mode.
Online availability December through mid-October for the current tax year only.
Requires a unique User ID and password combination.
TurboTax CD/Download software

Deluxe and higher include Forms Mode.
Can be purchased locally November through April, often at a discount, or year-round at TurboTax.com.
Available for as long as you own the software and a computer to run it on.
Passwords are optional.

TurboTax Online Deal-Breakers

There are a few things TurboTax Online cannot handle. You must use the CD/Download software if you:

Need to file a corporate (Form 1120/1120-S), partnership (Form 1065), or estate/trust (Form 1041) return - you'll need the TurboTax Business software;
Need to prepare, amend, or file your 2010 through 2013 taxes; or
Need to import data from Quicken or QuickBooks; or
Need to download more than 500 stock transactions.
Although TurboTax Online and the personal tax software handle the same tax forms, in rare situations we recommend the software over the online version (for example, if filing Form 982).

If you can't open your downloaded file and it is showing an .0100 file extension then do the following
You need to go to the file in your downloads folder (or where you downloaded the file to) and unblock it. Right click on the file, click on properties and then you should see an box on the bottom marked unblock-check that and then go back and double click on your file to run it.
tl:dr File>properties>unblock

To upgrade from Premiere to Home and Business for $10, do not use the "Business" button inside TT or any other method. It will try to charge a higher upgrade fee. To get the $10 upgrade to Home and Business, install and run Premier, and click on the menu bar Help - Upgrade Turbo Tax. That charges $10, for a total of $20 for TT Home and Business for desktop.

After downloading, start your tax return. If you need the state edition, download it now for free! Not sure if this will provide the free efile for the state, but at least guarantees you get the state forms for free. Smilie - TaylorS2245

If you live in NY, e-file is free. (If the software includes preparation, which this does, e-file must be included free per New York law):

Price mistake? Wow. If this works-that would be fantastic. Assuming this includes free federal filings, and isn't free with a 49.99 filing charge!?😄

Strange. I didn't have to enter any CC. Wonder how they would charge me.

It's asking me to sign into my Turbo Tax account, as if I am going to prepare my taxes. Did everyone else do the same?

I recall this being an "issue" last year. It only applied to the online version if I remember correctly. Excellent find OP.
