Both drives came out about the same time. There performance is also close, one a little better at some and the other at something else. To be honest I doubt you will notice a difference.

Make sure what ever SSD you buy to update the firmware before installing a OS.

(sorry of little help)

my first SSD was an 80GB Intel .... it's still running and used to this day in my main computer
I've recently purchased a 1TB Samsung 840... no problems. software has caching that may provide
better performance then the intel.

I own crucial and maybe Kingston SSDs... no problems from them either.

Bottom line Intel and Samung are MAJOR players... you cant go wrong with either. for me though my next drive is prob another Samsung for another computer @ house.

Samsung is the better drive IMO. However 128GB is not much room. I have two of these drives in a Raid 1 as the last SSD I used was by OCZ and lasted not even all of a year then was replaced and worked for another 3 months.

Overall I'd suggest purchasing the 256GB, as I've seen them around 139.99 on here, and I wished I would have just spent the extra cash and have more space.

For me I have 2 drives, 1 boot and 1 storage. The Boot is a SSD while the other is my old platter drive. I have found that works best and gives you easy access to backup important files on both drives.

I also do this. If you image the original HD over to the SSD, you at least have an OS backup drive should the SSD fail. Sure, if you have installed new programs since installing the SSD, you will need to install on the HD if you switch back to it.

Meh... $70+tax is getting into the 240-256GB territory price-wise given all the recent deals.
SanDisk X210 256GB was $80-$90 yesterday and that drive is on par with Sandisk Extreme II in performance. Samsungs are still way overpriced.
