The checkout process is a little tricky to replicate the deal (as noted by many posts below). Here is how to do it:

*sign up for a free MasterPass account before you begin*

[1] Log in to your Rakuten account.
[2] Add item to cart.
[3] Proceed to checkout (do not choose MasterPass yet).
[4] Enter code MP30 in the promo box in the Order Summary area. Choose Apply.
[5] Your promo code should register but with an error saying it is invalid (because we haven't chosen MasterPass yet - this is okay). Now that you have confirmed that it is applied to the order, you can now choose (Change) under Payment Method and select MasterPass.
[6] Sign in to MasterPass, confirm details, and then you will be redirected back to Rakuten before submitting the order.
[7] The order defaults to 2-day $5.49 shipping. Change it to Budget for free shipping.
[8] Submit order.

NOTE:
1. Many users have reported credit card theft after making purchases on Rakuten.com. Please check this link: http://slickdeals.net/f/6018544-rakuten-buy-com-customers-getting-fraudulent-credit-card-charges?v=1
2. If you will not be home to receive the delivery during the weekdays, don't bother buying stuff from Rakuten.com. They ship items through some kind of distribution center which put strict restriction on the shipment via Fedex. They will only attempt to deliver to you directly with a signature required. They will not leave any notice if they miss you and they will not leave the package at your front door even if you call fedex and request to do so. That means you will never get your package if you can't be home when they deliver. They eventually return your package after 3 attempts.

Do not click on masterpass at the checkout page. Sign into your account and then choose masterpass. You will get a chance to use the code and choose free budget shipping as well.

In terms of performance, the 840 EVO is faster, but not to the point that you would really notice. The MX100 is an excellent drive, and one of only a handful that I can recommend without hesitation.

The Sandisk Extreme Pro and Samsung 840 EVO are pretty neck-and-neck [anandtech.com], with only a slight lead for the former. You could make the argument for MLC vs TLC, but that's irrelevant to 95% of consumers.

The MX100 is slower than either drive, but it's still one of the faster drives on the market, and Crucial is a good brand. If you're really after speed, get the XP941, which is 3x faster than the fastest SATA drives.

Sandisk is the superior drive with 10 year warranty. It's fast and reliable at the same time. I believe this is the lowest ever for this drive. Repped.
