I got one of the $20 crappy Android tablet coupon in the mail and a free 8GB memory card in my email during their grand opening, but nothing after.
My mom's work gets a ton of coupons though. They got $20 crappy Android tablets with 8-16GB memory cards/sticks, $30 off $60 coupons, and a $60 WinBook TW800 (which I used and they gave me the upgraded TW801 instead).

I got a coupon in the mail, $29.97 for this tablet, went to microcenter and grabbed it, opened the box, there also has a separate office 365 1year card inside, can I sell the card to make the tablet almost free?

If you don't get the coupon, the open box ones I picked up @ 47.96 labeled complete included the windows 365 and were the same as new, except ... open'd

Im really happy with the two i got.

Is the Office 365 license only good for one year? Do you lose access to the Office afterward?

have'nt used MS office in what seems like 10 years now.. I use open office.

So those who got this how is it?
I got a email for the 49 price.
Spec wise it looks very nice, bt, 16gb, IPS screen, quad core.
But I love android, still Im wondering if It's worth giving the win tab's a try.
Does anyone know if secure boot is locked down?
My understanding it to be win8 certified they're not suppose to lock down x86 based tab's or pc's.. although ARM units ARE!

But we all know rules get bent, so Im curious if this one has secure boot locked or not.
Im not terribly fond of win8

EDIT: more questions
Can I run anything I can on win8 on x86/64 pc's?
am I stuck with the store? or can I run what ever I want?

It's a good little thing. You can run most stuff. Steam runs. It's confining and needs an SD card and then you should install your programs to that. Apps can't be installed to SD card.

So you can only use officially packaged apps from the store?
you can't run any random win/x86 programs?

I've heard the Windows store is a joke, (poor app selection) the selling point to me would be if I could run regular windows programs on it.

yes you can run any random win/x86 programs on it, not just in the app store. and since its not an app store app, you can install it on the SD card if you want.

Nice I think ima have to pick one of these up.
I just read that it has a traditional bios (need a keyboard + F2) and secure boot CAN be turned off.
So theoretically you could run pretty much anything on this.

It appears the only real problem with these is the storage.
16gb is true.. however the full win8 eats up aprox half that space right out of the box.
people complaining that just installing office, antivirus software, and then win os updates.. and they're practically out of storage space with app's unwilling to install to SD.

Also apparently the OS is 32bit, The CPU is capable of handling 64 but a from what I've read there's a bio's limitation Nerfing it to 32bit only.
Makes sense given it's limited ram but it kinda sucks all the same.
Then again can't think of to many things that are 64bit only so I guess It's kinda moot.

wonder how they can make a tab with these spec's and full win8 for this price.
at this price even the android tab's can't touch it on spec, im not sure how much MS is charging for the OS.. apparently far less then on PC's given they want their win8 to penetrate the mobile market.
