Editor's Notes & Price Research

Written by Corwin

These games require a free Steam account to play. Nice prices for these popular games and game collections, the Fallout Classics collection should be good for those who haven't played the earlier games. -Corwin

Is the Dishonored DLC worth twice the cost?

If you like Dishonored, it gives you about 8 more hours of play on average, back story, and some new abilities. As reference the average game play is 12 hours for the base game.

I played through the 2 full length campaign DLC and thought they were pretty good. IRC you end up forced in more combat situations, so it becomes harder to play the entire way stealthy and unnoticed.

All the reviews on green man gaming's site say it is. Darn.. I paid 7.50 for the regular version almost a year ago I guess but still never played it... gotta stop doing that..shake head

If you like FPS style games, this is a very fun game. Don't look at it as being "twice the cost". At $8 it's not exactly busting the piggy bank. Besides, those 3 or 4 DLC offer hours of gameplay and it's a pretty good deal. It should be noted however that the GOTY version sold for slightly cheaper back in August ($6 through GMG).

I've resigned to the fact that I may be more of a "game collector" than a game player. I made a spreadsheet last year that details every single purchase I've made for games and there's so many games in my backlog now I'll be old & grey by the time I get through the list.

I also make it a point to never buy a game again unless I really want it or unless it's dirt cheap. I won't spend anymore than $4 for any title. There's several games in my collection that have gone down in price and definitely some money wasted thinking I'll never see a deal like that again....only to see another deal pop up some 2-3 months later for slightly less.

Does the GOTY edition come as separate steam codes. Can I gift the base game if I already have it?

Damn..can't use my credit with the voucher. Was hoping to snag dishonored GOTY for $4, oh well $8 is not too bad. I'll save my credit for some other time.

I was wondering the same thing. I don't think you can gift the base game because typically the Game of the Year editions come with the base and DLC all in one package. In this case, I'd like to be wrong, but that's usually how it works.

You can get more game play out of it if you try to play stealthy the whole time. That's what I did, and I found it to be more enjoyable that way.
