To Check the Build Number on your Gear Live
1. Tap the Watch
2. Select Settings
3. Scroll down and select About
Android 5.0.1 = LWX48P
Android Debug = sprat-userdebug 4.4W.1 KGW42N 1387258 dev-keys If you have this then you will not be able to receive System Updates

To Check for Software Updates on your Gear Live
1. Tap the Watch
2. Select Settings
3. Scroll down and select About
4. Select System Updates

To Enable Developer Options on your Gear Live
1. Tap the Watch
2. Select Settings
3. Scroll down and select About
4. Tap the Build Number several times

To Enable Debugging on your Gear Live
1. Tap the Watch
2. Select Settings
3. Scroll down and select Developer Options
4. Enable ADB Debug
5. Enable Debug over Bluetooth

Install ADB and Fastboot on your Computer
I used the following method
http://lifehacker.com/the-easiest...1586992378

If you are on a Mac, you will need to modify the following 2 lines (see comments)
line 19: sudo mv Mac/adb /usr/bin/adb
line 22: sudo mv Mac/fastboot /usr/bin/fastboot

Install ADB, Fastboot, and Drivers on a Windows Computer
wiscobadgerin used this link on Windows to get the Drivers to work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s...st48915118

How To Get Rid Of Android Debug
Gear Live and Phone Setup
1. Download Android Wear from the Google Play Store
2. Complete the Android Wear Setup and pair the Gear Live with your phone
3. Enable Developer Options
4. Enable Debugging

Computer Connection
1. Plug in the Watch to the Cradle > USB Cable > Computer
2. You may be prompted for drivers
3. You should receive a prompt on your phone for RSA . . . check the box to trust and accept
4. Run "adb devices" in cmd/terminal (without the quotes) to make sure you are connected
5. If the watch is not shown in the devices list, follow the instructions here to install USB drivers. https://stackoverflow.com/questio...g-g-watch/
6. Run "adb reboot bootloader" in cmd/terminal (without the quotes)
7. Run "fastboot oem unlock" in cmd/terminal (without the quotes). This will wipe your data, but unlock the Gear Live
8. Complete the Gear Live and Phone Setup again

Gear Live Restore Tool
1. Download the tool from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g...l-t2846696
2. (If you are on a Mac) Open the 2-Gear-Live-Tool-for-Linux-and-OSX.sh file in TextWrangler and change the format to Unix (LF) prior to executing
3. Run the Gear Live Tool and choose Recovery (Option *8 Flash TWRP recovery* in version 3 of the tool)
4. Reboot
5. At this point you will be unable to pair your Gear Live with your phone
6. Hold power on the Gear Live to get to Settings
7. Enable Developer Options
8. Enable Debugging

Restore Stock Image
1. Download the tool from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g...x-t2834620
It is known as (4.4W) Stock KMV78Y and can be found at http://www.androidfilehost.com/?f...9112653225
2. You should have a boot.img and a system.img at this point. Put them in the ADB/Fastboot directory where you are running your commands from
3. Hold the Power button on the watch and keep holding for it to reboot.
4. When you see the Samsung Logo (keep holding the Power Button), swipe from the top Left of the screen to the bottom Right. You may have to do this a few times.
5. One you have the options for Start / Fastboot / Recovery / PowerOff, you can release the Power Button
6. Run "fastboot flash boot boot.img" in cmd/terminal (without the quotes)
7. Run "fastboot flash system system.img" in cmd/terminal (without the quotes)
8. Swipe down to select Recovery then swipe left to right to enter Recovery
9. Click on the Red triangle on a Green Android
10. Swipe down to wipe data/factory reset, complete the wipe
11. Swipe up to reboot system now. Do this
12. At this point you should now be able to pair with your phone and run updates (this will take several times and take lots of time)
13. First update should get you to 4.4W2 and the second update should get you to 5.01

Great deal! These retail for $199 a piece on Amazon. So while these are refurbished $150 for two of them is a great price.
Take note this is an Android Wear Smart Watch and it'll work on most phones running Android 4.3 or newer. This is worth mentioning since a lot of people might confuse it with the Galaxy Gear which only works for Samsung devices.

eBay prices for the Galaxy Gear Live are around $80-$120 used so you could possibly sell one and get the other for really cheap.

No. This watch will not work without a smartphone to pair it to.
