Make sure that your BIOS doesn't whitelist parts before you buy this. Laptops made by Lenovo and HP are known to use BIOS whitelists.
EXPIRED!
In the middle of placing my order the coupon code expired FML!
I should have placed my order before I posted my long winded question :o(

Just because you don't understand a product, it's not a reason to thumbs down. This is an adapter: a wireless network adapter. No one promissed a PCI-Express adapter here. And yes, it can be used in a desktop that has a mini PCI-e slot.

Thanks, I picked up a couple of Z77 ITX boards recently that had been stripped of their wireless cards. was going to go Wireless-N but for $10 more I got AC.

The stars must be lined up in my favor: Zotac Z77 ITX board with M350 case and 160w PICO PSU ($70 ebay) + G2020 ($35 ebay) + 4gb DDR3 (re-used) + 40gb SSD (re-used) + open elec5 (Kodi/XBMC) + Intel wireless card $24 = one sweet HTPC for $130.

Thanks OP.

My Dell XPS 8700 desktops have mini pci-e card slots... Which are filled stock with 1703 intel wifi/bluetooth cards. This will be a nice upgrade.

I have this in my MSI GS60 Ghost Pro 2PE laptop; it's aweful. I've tried everything from switching drivers to configuring settings on it and cannot get decent speeds from it! Best I can do is 10Mbps down/up. I've tried it on multiple networks, multiple ISPs, multiple routers & APs. It might be my motherboard or laptop but just wanted to give a personal review.

Guessing antennas aren't included? How much would those run if I wanted to use this in a miniITX htpc build?
