These codes are supposed to be used for upgrades not new installs. They will work for new installs but that is not the intention for their use.

I have a Synology NAS which I recently bought and it comes with a two free camera licenses but I'm wondering if I should jump on this and use Blue Iris instead of the cam software that Synology provides?

I also use a Synology NAS...I'd say DEFINITELY jump as the camera licenses are insanely expensive ($50 each I think) and I'd guess most homes will have much more than 2 cameras. It also limits your expansion options and instead of spending money on licenses, spend it on more HD, a better Synology NAS unit, etc..

It's just not worth investing in the Synology cam product line I feel. They really should just bundle a ton more camera licenses (who even buys this?) if they even want to compete...

...and this coming from a Synology fan as I am getting ready to buy another (waiting for a sale)...

I purchased yesterday. You get SN at end of checkout. It's also emailed within about 30 minutes.

Download protection.... really? So eventually you will not be able to download upgrades, just the binary you originally downloaded?

Awesome! Best software, for better or worse, to use with Foscams.

No you will always be able to download updates and the full original version..it has been that way for years and still is...the protection is sold by the checkout company...its useless. Just email your key to yourself in case you lose it. In fact if you go to the bottom of the update page you will see that version 3 and well as 2 are available for download for those who are still using those versions.
You are not entitled to lifetime upgrades...just updates..so when version 5 comes out you will need to rebuy...that is expected to be in several years from now though as version 3 was released three years ago...

For some reason, Synology's surveillance station always disconnects for me. I'd get email notifications several times a day. Thinking about whether or not I should jump on this instead.
