Western Digital WD40EFRX 4 TB WD Red, 3.5 inch, SATA III 5400 RPM 64 MB Cache Bulk/OEM NAS Hard Drive

Seems like a decent price for a pretty solid 4TB NAS drive. I was able to use this multiple times to get the deal more than once. This requires a price match by staples but it has already been approved so it shouldn't be a problem. It may take a few steps...

First: http://slickdeals.net/?pno=141886&lno=1&afsrc=1&trd=Staples+com

Second: Get staples to price match (chat is probably the easiest) amazon for 154.99 (http://www.amazon.com/Western-Dig...B00EHBERSE)

Third: complete order with VISA Checkout to get 30 off of 150 and then staples will adjust the total on your completed order.

UPDATE::
I received my first drive and confirmed it has firmware version 3.0.

I am being told I need a callback for price matching. Did you go through this?

EDIT: Just got done with purchasing two. They initially requested a callback to instruct on how to process the order with the VISA checkout.

They first want you to make the purchase for the amount and the VISA checkout. Then you contact customer service via Webchat for the price adjustment and your order number. They also need the item number to compare: IM1TA9309.

serious question, what makes this better for NAS than a normal HDD? I found a cheap HDD made for surveillance cameras apparently, but do any of these make a real difference?

The NAS drives are built for more MTBF hours and have a longer lifespan than a standard desktop HDD. Usually 1 million+ hours, VS 500-800 thousand.

They priced matched me via chat without any issues for the first time. The second time I did it over the phone and the customer service rep said that it was already approved for 154.99 so it was an "easy" price match. Both times I even told them I was going to use the VISA checkout for the extra 30 off without any issues.

Worked for me via chat. I haven't had an issue with a RED in my Synology NAS. I have tried the greens and some Seagate drives and I have had issues with both. I stick with these drives for my hybrid raid. I am slowly upgrading my 3TBs to 4 TBs.

Did you place the order over phone or placed the order online with visa checkout and then chatted for price adjustment?

thanks worked for me!

can you use visa checkout with another account to get the $30 discount again? How does that work, just create another account and use a diff cc or use the same one?
