Decent price for an OOMA. You don't need to pay the $10/mo premiere service fee to use it and get the free domestic calls, just pay your state and federal taxes and it's only around $3/mo for most states.

Also, if you have AMEX, pay with that to double the warranty to 6 months!

We switched to this from an Obihai about a year ago and there's no comparison. We've been MUCH happier with the OOMA.

One problem with Ooma is they no longer provide Caller ID alpha information for the regular (non-premier service). My old Hub provides CID Alpha info. and the monthly cost is still ZERO and has been zero for over 4 years 6 months. (Dreading the day when my Ooma Hub finally craps out).

Newegg has it for $75 with free shipping. Use promo code EMCAKAW38 at checkout for 25% off. Doesn't have the bluetooth adaptor if that matters to you.

You mean the CID number is displayed, but not the name? We don't use CID, so I never noticed.

I don't pay for Premier and my Ooma-branded bluetooth handset shows CID with names. I am getting raped on taxes now ($9 a month), which really makes me jealous of Hub owners.

Curious re Obihai issues you encountered.

What VoIP provider were you using w/Obi device? What was the issue(s) you had that Ooma service has made you happier?

Have personally used various Obi for a few years now with GV / LocalPhone / Callcentric w/o issue or complaints and have set up a few for tech. illiterate family w/o complaint.

Great deal. Don't have home phone myself, but got 2 family members to switch and saved them $30-40 monthly. Has worked flawlessly and is no different than what they had with the phone company.

One big problem with Obi...they cut a deal with Google Voice to continue offering free calling...and you never get something for nothing...Obi/GV is giving Google even more data on my life...who I call, when, etc...that helps them target more crap ads to me... I would rather have a real phone company like Ooma who protects my privacy and does not data mine my calling (Obi/GV = worse than the NSA)

Echoing, line quality, and voice delay problems. we tried a couple providers (starting with Google voice, which was pretty awful consistency) I don't remember who we were using, tho. I don't have to worry about it with the Ooma. Just pay our $3/ mo taxes and get good call quality every time.
