looks simple enough as long as doesn't affect credit score

$50? Not really worth it. Just got an offer from Chase $450 for opening up a checking and savings account and depositing 10K for 90 days.

I did it... I already have a Discover Card acct so this was just a bonus, a FREE 50 never hurts

$50 sounds nice. But the fact that I'm getting a 1099 means that I'll most likely have to pay it back to the IRS. Thanks America!

You are not giving the whole 50 back.

This is the best bank bonus going right now. Just takes a little more money and a Chase branch. Closest branch to me is 200 miles.
Doctor of credit has some good information on his site about cash offers.

Most banks won't send you a 1099 unless it exceeds $300

Not true. I've done 5 different offers from different banks and have received 1099's from each of them.

So you have to be an existing discover card holder to open the cash-back checking account?

There never has been an offer greater than $50 from discover for a checking account so I doubt there will be next time.
