Repped.
But won't (can't ) buy. Too many headphones in the house and scanty resources.
Sometime later.

I also have the X1... As much as I'd like to I'm not just buy these for the sake of getting a good deal. $300 is still a lot of money for..... what, a 5% improvement in SQ? These are apparently less "fun" than the X1's and 600's, so I'd prolly prefer the X1 anyways.

Significantly, but you'll have to invest in at the very least a $100 amp. The real beauty of the 650's is that they scale nicely. So you can spend $300 on amp and you'll still get a lot out of them.

Great price... Really thinking about buying these... I've owned them before, sold them over 4 years ago and have been wanting another pair ever since I sold them

A great review of the 580,600 & 650.....the HD600 is the sweet spot.

Oh and the only thing better than the X1 is the Philips Fidelio X2

Thanks, repped and ordered.

I already have an HD598 which I use AMP-less or with my portable FiiO E11. I figure I should get something else for the HD650 and was considering a USB DAC, such as the FiiO E10k [amazon.com] ($76 seems like a great price).

According to http://www.audiobot9000.com/match.../fiio/e10k:

This amp has enough power to drive these headphones
According to http://www.headfonia.com/fiio-e10...ic-reborn/:

It's suitable for 16-150Ohm headphones but it can actually even handle the 300Ohm Sennheiser HD650

I used to love Fiio e10, e7, e17 with denon d2000, d5000, triple fi 10, ue900. But with Sennheiser HD 650, whole fiio range fails.
There are a number of other head-fi posts suggesting pretty costly AMPs (as expected at head-fi).

If I'm going expensive (by my standards), was thinking of the JDS Labs O2 ODAC combo [jdslabs.com] (made in USA too... but $280 is a tough pill to swallow).

Any suggestions?
