Please see MPP link for more info. ~ persian_mafia

The new Broadwell CPU is comparable to the Haswell CPU in raw processing speed. However, the onchip HD5500 GPU boasts up to 40% improvement in performance over the Haswell GPU. Due to its smaller die size, the Broadwell boasts up to 30% improvement in performance per watt. This translates to less heat and much longer battery life for laptops equipped with Broadwell processors. ~ persian_mafia

Cheaper than the sale 2 weeks ago! Dell just released the upgraded version of the Dell Inspiron 13 2-in-1 series http://www.dell.com/us/eep/p/insp...348-laptop

Inspiron 13 7000 (model 7348) specs:
  • Intel Core i7-5500U 2.4GHz
  • 8GB RAM
  • 500GB HDD w/ 8GB cache
  • 13.3" touch IPS LED (1920 x 1080)
  • 802.11ac
  • BT 4.0
  • Back-lit keyboard
  • Built-in (passive) stylus

Limited time sale of 30% off "retail" price, brings the cost to $749. After additional $50 discount coupon B?DS2TJWP7?JMV (added during checkout, expires 1/31) the total is $699. "Member" discount of 2% ($13.98) also available (see below) brings the total down to $685 with free shipping. This is over $200 off of the normal Dell pricing ($899) for the highest config of this ultrabook/tablet.

There is an active stylus available for this computer now. It shows up on the initial page of accessories, but isn't listed once you've added the computer to the cart. Search for part number 750-AAGN to find it ($35, though there's a 5% off promo now).

Not sure if this was a Dell Advantage promo or because I have an MPP number associated with my account, but I was also given an extra $14 off for being a "member" (it never said specifically of what). Sign up for the Dell Advantage and you may save this as well, plus get upgraded to free 2-day shipping!
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Buyer Beware: These new Dell XPS 13 and Inspiron 13 laptops do not come with any touchpad drivers. That means that you cannot tweak around settings such as gestures and other touchpad specific settings (such as palm detection, etc.). Even basic settings such as pointer acceleration will be missing. These drivers are not even available on Dell's website for you to separately install.

Just wanted to add this in
$50 GC with purchase of $400 GC. This deal should come out like $635.01

Mostly it's i7 vs i5, plus I don't think the older versions had the hybrid hard drive. To me it's worth it, but maybe not for everyone.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on this one, and just upgrading to an SSD. Any reason not to?

I gave this a thumbs up, thanks for sharing OP! Only reason I wouldn't suggest this model is battery life. I owned the i5 model with FHD and all other specs look the same. I was getting approx 4 hours on power saving setting and basic use. There is no touchpad driver either from Dell on this model...so no customizing to your liking, and the touchpad glitches at times. Installing an SSD would be wise! With the new Dell XPS 13 stated battery life of 15 hours, it all depend on your needs I guess.

For comparison, the i5 model i bought at Costco was $699, so for the money this is a better deal!

Here is the link to the model i owned, with all the specs listed for comparison...

I ordered this from the sale two weeks ago for about $80 more. I got it Friday and have been very impressed. It was well worth $780, a steal at $699. I did replace the HD with an SSD the first day though.

new dell xps 13 has 15 hour battery life huh, man thats a huge claim, theres just no way it will get that im betting at best 8-9 hrs real world usage if even that. cant believe they had the balls to put 15 hrs. where is all the power saving coming from? they are using the standard core i3/5/7 cpus not the core m versions, so im confused on that

man i want one of these inspirons so bad but have to wait for best buy to list it because i have almost the full purchase price in giftcards there =(

laugh out loud yeah that's typical for every mfr! I will be very happy with anywhere from 8-12 to get me through the day...plus another few more hours when paired with the dell power companion.

It seems like quadcore i7 with the 5th generation intel chips may be canned. These will likely be the best 5th gen cpus on laptop.
