I was curious about those Fitbits. But I'm not willing to spend $100 or more to try one oout. I saw the MiBand my sister got for Christmas. It appears to have all the functionality of the more expensive Fitbit for only $17.xx with Free Shipping

The quality of the band and playing with the App on a Galaxy S3 I found it quite nice for the price.

It is made by Xiaomi . I have there version of the Android click button. I follow Android development on XDAdeveloper and Xiaomi is becoming a major player in the smart phone business in China.

I've seen the Price at $21. Then once downd to $18.99. For for about $17 shipped, it is worth giving it a try.

These things break easily though, good luck with that support.

Assuming this works like the others - these things need to standardize their output so they're not tied to a proprietary app.

I used knock off in the loose sense that this is a fraction of the cost and essentially the same sensors. In fact I read it is the exact invensense sensor in the Fitbit and will be in the Iwatch.

Same sensor in my quad copter too.:-)

How is this a knockoff? It's NOT.
My Fitbit requires to be charged every week, while Mi Band battery lasts for over a month.
Fitbit requires a USB dongle while Mi Band uploads data through BT.
Instead of saying this is a knockoff of Fitbit, we should probably be saying Fitbit is a total ripoff. These are so cheap to make, Xiaomi is merely exposing reality behind those high priced fitness trackers.

Build quality of Mi Band is amazing. It's water proof, I shower with it every day. Top is a machined aluminum, even the tiny band clip is machined out of aluminum I believe.

I have one of these, they are great. Signing up for the initial account sometimes is a bit wonky though, at least that's what my experience was.

This thing tracks my sleep a lot better than my fitbit force and jawbone up ever did/

Expose what? Everyone knows the bulk of the cost goes into marketing, like everything else.

The box for my Fitbit Flex says manufactured in China.

Awesome free support and replacement if broken or lost with Fitbit. Solid company who really stands behind their product! You're paying for that, too. Well, you have to pretend you're paying for that since the price really is inflated.

Bottom line $17 is about the right price. It is a novelty, and fun to play with.
