Damn, mighty, mighty tempting and a great deal. I've been holding out for an EVO or Crucial MX100 deal, but really not wanting to spend more than $100 for a 250/256GB. Grrrrrr.....

PS - I read the other day that many of the features that make the Samsungs better (faster) than the Crucials require Windows. Possibly through some driver or something. Is that true? I use Linux about 99.8% of the time, so would there be any real reason to prefer the Samsung over the Crucial, aside from the extra 2 yrs warranty? By the time I need the extra 250GB, a 500GB drive will likely be the difference I'd pay now, anyway. And then I'll have two drives. Thoughts?

No, you can use any card. In fact, there's a $25 Amex Sync offer for Newegg that people have had success stacking with Visa Checkout.

not a stupid question at all. visa checkout is just a third party and you can pay with any card.

For one 840 comes messed up, all sizes. = EVO ONLY

you have to update the firmware and some other things otherwise after the first 30 days it will slow down on ya. they fixed this around last november i think, which its own special software

Yes I know about that. I was just talking performance. I might go with the Pro.

With VCO and Amex is $180 for a 500gb 850 Evo... Good deal.

I just wish I needed one.

They will probably be $150 in a year the way SSDs have been dropping.

I really wish 850 Pro was closer in price to Sandisk Extreme Pro. I'd love to have Sammy with 3D NAND and hardware encryption, but the $100 premium is hard to justify considering how close those two drives are in terms of performance.

This is only true if you get an older stock with the buggy firmware. All the ones we've gotten in at work since October come with the new firmware that fixes the 30-day slowdown problem.

SSDs will only get cheaper, I have both brand ssds and have nothing but good praises to say. Get what you need now and get bigger/faster later
