Hello, I hope you are doing well.

Note: Unless you are in California, this may not seem like a hot deal.

Walgreens stores' current weekly ad has Nice! One Dozen Grade A Large Eggs for $1.29. There is a limit of 2 and the deal is valid through February 7, 2015. Walgreens Balance card required; sign up for free here [walgreens.com] or sign up for free in store.

Author's Notes:
  • Stock may be limited. If a store is out of stock, it may work to your benefit: Kindly request a raincheck so you can get this deal in the future. Do note, however, that your experience may vary and some employees may refuse to write a raincheck.
  • Due to California's Proposition 2 [wikipedia.org] - also known as the Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act - the prices of eggs have increased significantly since 2015 began. For more information, feel free to check out this NPR.com article [npr.org].
  • Price comparison and history (prices may vary by store and location):
    • Costco has 1.5 dozen of eggs for nearly $6; previously, this product was under $4.
    • Trader Joe's has 1 dozen of eggs for $2.99; previously, this product was under $2.
Enjoy!

If you want to stock up, you can always freeze some of them.

Thanks for the info for why the price of eggs in Ca has skyrocketed. I almost pass out when I saw the price of 5 dozen egg for $17.5. It used to $7 for 5dozens. Time to stack up eggs from walgreen.

$5 PER doz (safeway brand) @ nor cal

Besides the need for larger pen size, I think grocery prices will increase VERY soon. Cali is going thru a dry winter again.

I think I saw $5.19 for a dozen last week at Safeway in San Francisco, but I didn't post it above because I didn't know its previous price.

This may be one of the best widescale deals on eggs in California this year. I'm thinking Walgreens may have printed that sales ad without consideration for Proposition 2.

I don't know if the chickens are refurbished - they very well could have been sold from farmer to farmer.

In NY(City), do Duane Reade stores have this price?

This is a great price even outside CA. Due to the sourcing law changes, I've seen my $2.19-2.59dz generic eggs increase to $3.29 last month.

No. Looks like only @ Walgreens... and not any stores in NYC

Check your local ad though. I see some places at only $1.29 such as White Plains.

Check the last page of the ad, page 8. For your convenience, I just added two screenshots of the ads; the screenshots are in the first post of this thread.

I hope this helps,
