LOL yup free is free. Grabbed it and will save if for a day when i may need it.

Looks like its 2 versions behind their newest one though so it may be lacking support for newer systems and devices? Also non upgradable to the newest one.

Yes I got confused a little too... The free version is for 8 only, no code needed.
The code "ADVANCEDPS1114" is for a special offer discount for the version 10 which cost $99-140.

DxO is photo editing software; it's an alternative to Photoshop. Personally, I prefer DxO when working with RAW files due to the color profile presets. Also, even the default processing often vastly improves color reproduction over what you get out of camera. It's a time saver either way.

It's not a substitute for Photoshop or Lightroom. It does something different - correction and enhancement specific to the camera and lens you're using.

"DxO Optics Pro is a program which automatically and completely corrects for lens distortion (even from fisheyes), color fringing and vignetting, and even corrects for unsharpness as needed. It does this by reading the EXIF so it knows exactly what camera, lens and settings you used, and then uses the specific measurements DxO made in its laboratory to apply perfect correction to your image.

Better, it also improves the artistic aspects of color, highlight and shadow, when lighting gets too harsh.

Technically, it also can do a bang-up job of cleaning up high-ISO noise, again specifically corrected as measured in DXO's labs for your camera.

...

DxO Optics Pro is software that perfectly and automatically (by reading the EXIF) corrects lens distortion, improves lens sharpness as needed, and does the best job I've ever seen of automatically optimizing highlights and shadows.

Not only does it do a perfect job of correcting the complex distortion of ultra-wide zooms, it creates perfect straightening of fisheye images, regardless of focused distance, and that was even in version 4 that I've been using."

"You might be surprised at how sparse the feature set is, especially if you’ve used Lightroom before. Aside from a dust-removal tool, DxO has no facility to make local edits, and it lacks Lightroom’s cataloguing capabilities. There’s no search, stacking, virtual folder or filtering tools here to help you manage your photo library.

What it does have is a superb raw-processing engine that more than matches that of Lightroom and, therefore, Photoshop’s Camera Raw module.

The star feature of Optics Pro 8 is its lens-correction capability"

You haven't used it, have you? You can make all the usual adjustments that you can make in Photoshop/Lightroom as well (WB, levels, unsharp mask, tone curves, saturation, contrast, cropping, and so on and so forth).
