I've done my state and federal taxes through H&R block online for free the last 3 years. Is that still available or are there any other free alternatives?

Edit: I see the federal being free and the state is $14.99. Are there are codes around to file state for free?

Where do you see federal for free? Thx in advance..

I noticed that Amazon has premium + state for 31, and here is deluxe + state for 27. Can anyone tell me the difference? Both seem to include 5 federal filings and one state software download. I'm in NY so my state filing is free and my return is quite simple...but I am curious what the difference is.

Anyone move from turbotax to Taxact? If so, how do you like it? I have been using TT for years.. hard to find a good TT deal now..

I'm jumping ship from TurboTax (user since 1998) and going to try this.

Does H&R Block Deluxe still have the common D & E forms that Turbotax stripped out of Deluxe this year?

You can pick up the HR Deluxe download version for free for a little bit of work. 1. Purchase TurboTax Basic, Deluxe or Premium from a B&M such as Staples. 2. Send email to SwitchToBlock@HRBLOCK.com with copy of your receipt as an attachment, in the email body put your Name, Email Address, Phone# and your computer's O/S.

You will receive an automated response informing you that they will verify the information and if eligible you will receive a link to download their Deluxe version. I did this a week ago and received the link about 3 days later. This is a legit promotion.

3. Return unopened TurboTax back to B&M for refund.

What about the $5 one around here? There's like 3 different H&R threads happening and I'm not sure which one to get.
