If anyone was interested in a NEW model.

Confirming. I just got this model router (SB6141) at Costco for $74.99 about a week ago. Good riddance to Cox's $6.99 monthly rental fee!

$55 for a refurbished model sounds pretty good. As long as the thing works, who cares if it's not brand new. Good post, OP.

Clarification: I got the modem at a brick and mortar Costco.
Just to add to this, you can call your local Costco and tell them you're looking for item #774054 and they'll tell you how many they have in stock. There's 24 at my local Costco in Northern California.

Also grabbed some info from an old thread

You can price match at Best Buy:

Does Best Buy match the prices of a Warehouse club?
Yes. We do match the prices of Warehouse clubs as long as the Warehouse club is a local retail competitor, has an identical immediately available product and all other price match criteria are met. We do not match the online prices of warehouse clubs if they vary from store prices

Costco sells a brand new one of the same model for $71.99...the difference is $17 and I believe costco has 90 days return policy.

More then likely if you don't have issues with throwing your cable modem it should work just fine being a used product.

9/10 returns are people that don't know how to setup a modem because their ISP tells them it's on there end and turns out to be a router or signal amp.

Wait why do people buy cable modems when there free from there ISP and DOS3 anyways, Am i missing something?

Yes you are missing something. Time Warner Cable at least in LA charges $6/month for modem or $12/mo for modem plus router.
I bought one of these when it was on sale at radio shack last year for $49.99 and I can't believe it's already 16mo. So I've saved over $100 already

.

You would be missing $10 a month if you were a Comcast customer.

I believe this would be covered under Costco's unlimited return policy, the 90 day policy is for certain electronics and I don't think modems have been added to that list. For the person asking for a confirmation if Costco has it for this price, yes mine does. Just call ahead and double check if you're making a special trip just for this.

Cox charged $6 month 8 years ago when I bought our docsis 2.0 modem. It's probably 7 or 8 now.

Just upgraded to the SB6141 on last months woot deal because cox bumped our speeds from 25 to 50 which out grew docsis 2.0 38Mbps ceiling.
