Verizon iPhone 6 and 6+ comes unlocked and can be used abroad and nationally. I can't personally confirm certain carriers, but I bought one a week ago and have tested it with a Cricket and T-mobile SIM card. My family abroad has used theirs in places such as the UK and Pakistan without any trouble. Again, they come unlocked due to an agreement with the FCC when they were buying the LTE spectrum. No need to call them to activate or anything.

If you have used these on other carriers with success please list below so the people that can't seem to use the search button don't have to keep posting:

Verizon iPhone 6/6+
-T-mobile - Gabik123
-Cricket
-AT&T
-China Unicom
-China Mobile

---------

Hotspot feature is actually controlled by carriers. Mine on T-Mobile says to call carrier to activate hotspot (additional cost).

^^

I have a verizon iphone and hotspot worked as soon as I put my T-Mobile SIM in - Gabik123

^^

If hotspot doesn't work, that's not because t-mobile wants you to pay. It's because apple/verizon hardcoded the payment feature into the OS. According to them, you would never use the phone on a different network. The same thing happens for some lumia phones when used on t-mobile even after unlocking the phone from at&t. It's a software limitation.
----------

- For you and those wondering, you can submit the Walmart receipt to apple and they'll give you the full year of warranty. All of these iPhones should come with warranty regardless since it has been less than a year since release date (assuming the iPhone you get isn't water damaged or is cracked).

Steps
1. Enter serial number here [apple.com] on apple warranty check website
2. Click the "submit your proof of purchase online" link.
3. Upload a pdf or some document of your Walmart receipt.

Walmart just jacked the prices up on these. I'm seeing $525 and $625 for the AT&T and $548 and $748 for the Verizon

Yes, pretty sure, I've heard that about Verizon iPhones, plus a quick search brought this up

Unlike Sprint, the SIM slot on Verizon iPhones comes unlocked.
Now that it's legal, here's how to unlock your phone on all ...

From what i know i believe the Verizon one's are unlocked if you want to use outside the US. I don't believe you could just pop in an AT&T sim for it to work within the US.

my experience is that VZW LTE phones are unlocked. I use a 5s on ATT and an LG G2 on T-Mobile. I'm not sure if the Verizon 6 has all the same bands for LTE on other carriers but it will work for service.

This is usually but not always true. Some Verizon 4GLTE phones don't have gsm radios besides 4GLTE. Also some phones like the Verizon s3 was sim locked at release though later unlocked through update. My Verizon Motorola Droid razr maxx cannot be used on usa gsm networks.

With that said, most recent phones should be fine. But keep in mind that you might not get all the bands needed, even if it is unlocked, depending on the device

It depends on the device but the Verizon iPhone 6 /6 plus are factory sim unlocked and can be used fully on att and tmobile.

Went back to China for Christmas.

All 3 Chinese carriers worked with my Verizon iPhone 6. Popped in sim card and worked right away.
