Deal on this one keeps getting better. I have these and LOVE them. Just make sure to have a portable amp if you're using these with a portable (e.g. not a receiver or other high powered) source.

Seriously tempted on this one.

Has anyone successfully redeemed a rebate from these guys? How long did it take? Was it an actual cash-back rebate or did they give you some kind of store credit thing?

Will these work with a sound card with built in amplifier, ie. Asus Xonar DG?

yes, DG has a built in amp that can handle up to 600 OHM phones.

So tempted, I am mostly worried about sound leaking out of my headphones and getting into my recording mic when doing voice overs or other casting.

But maybe its worth the risk

Holy nuts. Great deal... have a pair of DT770s that are ridiculously comfortable, but they not flat enough for my uses... the DT990s should be a nice step up and I can sell my 770s to offset almost all of the cost. WOO! Big Grin

I got the Beyerdynamic dt 770 250 ohms, and they are loud enough with a FiiO E6. They might be a little quiet somewhere loud like a plane or car with a portable device listening to quiet music (such as classical).

The 990 are not really an upgrade to the 770. The 990 and 770 are both have a V shaped sound signature. Also the 770 are CLOSED headphones and the 990 are OPEN headphones, one is not really an "upgrade" to the other.

If you want an upgrade to the 770 and more neutral, look to the DT1350.
