PSU's dont pull the wattage listed, they only pull whats needed up to that limit. A 400 watt psu will use roughly the same energy as a 1200 watt psu powering the same system.

The only reason to change is for size constraints.

But the 1200w PSU will be horribly inefficient at those low load levels. So would the 400w PSU if your system only draws 40w like most of these ITX sized systems do.

Very incorrect - read up on PSU efficiency curves. Here is a graph from Anandtech [anandtech.com] that displays efficiency of a Corsair 900W Bronze rated (80+) PSU. At idle, the efficiency drops to 70%.

Yes I agree with audiophan. I read that you should get a power supply with 100-200 watts above what is require by your system in order to ensure efficiency. I'm building a low powered server/htpc that will be running at about 40w-80w so it's going to be hard for me to find something I need.

The pico atx psu are rate for 80 watt to 160 but depending on which model you buy.. I have a amd 5150 on a 550 gold psu.. Kill a watt shows 25-27 watt usage while running prime 95 / memtest

I admit, the 110 and 130 are both really nice, this on is kind of ugly but for the price I might bite.
