Fantastic deal if you want to upgrade an older road bike with the excellent new 5800 groupset or are looking to build your own bike for a lot less than a prebuilt (even $1500 prebuilts often come with crappy tektro brakes and whatnot)

Specs as follows:

Crankset: FC-5800 52-36T 172.5mm arm length
Cassette: CS-5800 12/25
Front Derailleur: FD-5800 Braze-On
Rear Derailleur: RD-5800 SS Model
Chain: CN-HG600
Brakes: 105 5800 BR5800
Bottom Bracket: BB-R60 English thread
STI Levers: Complete boxed set with all gear and brake cables included

All aftermarket boxed with all instructions and original packaging

You should TU in that case Wink

Honestly I'm thinking of buying it too. The black groupset also looks so much better than the silver one IMO. My old 9 tiagra from 2007 (basically the equivalent to the newer 3500 Sora now) is getting worn out and I'm thinking of upgrading soon.

Unfortunately my poor college wallet might not be able to afford it. Frown

I would jump on this if I could choose the crank arm length and gearing. I'm pretty sure I'm too lazy to sell and rebuy the right numberzzzz.

Still though, this is an awesome deal.

Great deal if you ride relatively flat terrain or are a strong rider. If you ride hills, you're going to want the 11-28 or 11-32 cassette.
I love hills, so the 11-25 is not the best choice for me.....

Merlin has great prices and ships fast. I've ordered from them several times and they have a good reputation on the bike forums.

The good thing is the cassette is pretty easy and cheap to replace unlike the crank.

And this is still easier for hills and novices than a standard double ring.

Good to hear about your experiences with Merlin though. I've only ordered from wiggle and nashbar in the past so I wasn't sure of their reputation.

Does anyone know if I have a trek 1.2 can I replace the groupset with this one?

Yep, shouldn't be a problem.

Just make sure your current derailleur is braze-on and it should work out.

Hmm, it seems to be clamp-on so I'm out of luck?

Nope it's not an issue at all. You'll just have to buy a cheap adapter (you could also buy the clamp-on version of the FD-5800, but I don't see the point in spending more for that)

http://www.wiggle.com/shimano-ult...n-adapter/

It says it's for di2 6770, but if you look at the reviews everyone says it fits with the 105 5800.

Best of all it has the same matte black look unlike other braze on adapters. Smilie

Probably not. The Bontrager "approved" rim you have will probably not take an 11 speed cassette. You currently have a 9 speed cassette?

You'll probably need to invest in new wheels too (the rear at least).

Yep... Merlin is GTG. Of course, they are located in the UK, so some items are subject to US custom fees (don't think parts and groupsets are though)...

I'm a Campy guy so don't listen to me...

I'm pretty sure you can replace the 11-25 with an 11-28, but don't count on replacing it with an 11-32, that requires a GS rear derailleur, not the SS in this deal.

Trek 1.2 has a Sora 9-speed, right? Double-check to make sure the 11-speed cassette will fit. Common sense says those two extra cogs make for a wider cassette... Wink

I'm with vaancee on that one... nod
