This is a great deal on the highly-rated but rarely discounted Lenovo Thinkpad Models. These laptops should be fully upgrade-able so it's well worth upgrading CPU and battery to 9 cell model while SSD / RAM maybe best done post purchase. In for a T450s to replace my still PERFECTLY functioning X201 ... been waiting to pull the trigger and this price is too good to pass up. The only thing i upgraded was the screen, and I will add my own M.2 SSD after the fact.

Any recommendations on the best/fastest M.2 SSD? I know samsung has that CRAZY fast one that just came out, but it is like $600. 256 GB should be enough, but would consider a 512 GB.

THANKS OP!!!

Something to note.

The M.2 slots will only accept 2242 type cards, so you can't use Samsungs fancy new ZF941 SSD drive (which are 80mm).

BUT - This would go PERFECT with the newegg/ebay Samsung 850 PRO that just got FP'ed. That's what I did. Pick up an 8 GB stick from amazon and you are all set.

I went with the 1080p NON-TOUCH model btw, (higher brightness) and stuck with the i5-5200u. Price difference isn't worth it for the upgrades. Skipped the media card reader so i have 3 total M.2 slots to expand in the future.

no physical touchpad buttons? pass. thinkpads are looking more and more like ideapads now.
theres nothing more irritating than oversized touchpads without real buttons.

Looks like even W series are 35% off.

W541 seems interesting to me because of max RAM of 32 GB.

Big question: X1 gen-3 or T450s?
Any suggestion?

T450S, seems better with more ports and upgrade-able RAM (8GB slot) and SSD.

Please note that EVERYONE resoundingly hated this touchpad and it will likely never appear ever again on a tpad. If you look at the new one at the bottom - the t550 - you will see it has the buttons back again. All the older 540 and 440s have those crappy touchpads. They are gone now in 2015.
