Pros: Better built. Tri-Nav. Arguably better EVF.
Cons: Slower AF. No WiFi. No Apps. Arguably worse EVF.

That old school 18-55mm is better than the 16-50mm but only slightly so.

Personally, I would get an A6000 at these prices. The NEX 7 is too long in the tooth. If it was $300 though...

Different sensor, AF, video capabilities, hotshoe. Has no wifi, no NFC, less FPS, cannot fully flip LCD...

Basically a lot of differences compared to the a6000. The NEX line is pretty much outdated at this point, but if you don't plan on switching systems within the next few years, you would be OK. The difference is in the build quality and tri-navi ergonomic system in the NEX7, which I think are negated by the substantial feature differences.

Wow, I just sold this same kit for $500 used!

Good price on this.

As people have said, the A6000 is a more "advanced" camera, but a lot of people prefer some things on the NEX-7. Build quality is much better, and the EVF is quite good.

A6000 has updated processor and improved autofocus. Sensor is essentially the same. Main significant difference is the addition of a third control dial (counting the two on top of the body and the third on the back). Biggest difference for most people I think would be the EVF on the NEX-7, which is significantly better than the A6000.

The 18-55mm is supposed to be a little better than the newer 16-50mm too.

If you want the extra control dial, I think this is definitely preferred over the a6000, but otherwise

I'd steer clear of this one. As stated, it is kind of long in the tooth at this point. That 18-55 is better optically but its literally twice the size.

Well.... I've used both. That's why I say it's argubly better and argubly worse. It is higher resolution but more laggy. The resolution I can't really tell unless I'm staring at the spec sheet. The lag though, that was immediately apparent the day I got the A6000. So in the end, the NEX 7 EVF is just different. I wouldn't say better or worse.

Yeah I guess there's no free lunch. A7 EVF is hugely better than all of these, but also noticeably more "laggy" than the a6000

Every time this ancient NEX-7 comes up, it becomes a retirement home. Gramps still thinks it's the best camera ever made, dammit.

Having had both at the same time I enjoyed the A6000 much more. The 7 was good, but not so good as to make it worth $500 these days. Once you start using it (say with an ipad on vacation or to do group photos from your phone) the wifi is pretty awesome.

Awesome deal for this 24 mp camera/lens combo. Even better deal since it was discontinued a while back. This camera is worth every penny.
