Proper setup of apple arport routers is set them to ALL auto.

According to above articles with proof, you're better off NOT setting up separate 2.4 and 5ghz networks. let the extreme take care of switching or bonding between the two frequencies

does this mean we should expect better pricing from other online resellers soon?

Nice find, OP. I recently purchased this router and it is awesome. The range (even the 5 Ghz band) is much better than my old ASUS RT-N66U and it reaches all points of my house. Apple refurbished products are basically good as new,

I wouldn't advise people to buy this router, unless time machine backups were worth more than life, and they aren't.

I bought the time capsule and glad I did. For 70 more you get a 2TB hard drive integrated with no hassles. It was worth it to me. I know you can add a usb drive to the extreme but I have not had much luck with those. Constant fails.

If you don't have a mac then I would just stick with the extreme.

Weird thing is if you have a apple tv directly connected there is an issue with these routers. They will stop broadcasting. I removed the apple tv from my setup and have not had a problem since. It has been documented online widely for that issue.

Dumb post. I had N66U and switched to Nighthawk. I then decided to switch to apple because of time capsule and dead simple automatic backups. The speed is just as good and range is equivalent plus this saved my butt recently. My macbook pro's ssd decided to stop working and if it wasnt for time capsule then I would have lost all of my family photos. I bought one of these refurbished from apple for my parents and zero restarts or issues for them either.

Golfer is right. These things are bulletproof and are insanely easy to use. If you are the 99% of people that just wanted something that works extremely well and gets 95% of the performance of the best wireless router out there then this is for you.

I'll vouch for these routers as well. Great range, never have to reboot, and Time Machine backups are as easy as backups get. Highly recommended.

Switched from a Nighthawk to the AirPort Extreme. The AE has less features, but it's dead simple to set up, faster, and has longer range.

Why should people not buy this router?
