I saw this link on You Tube and they normally have a $200-250 promo but this seemed better than normal. Plus there are really no hoops other than the direct deposit, which at my work is very quick.

Looks like it must be done at a branch. I would have done it for the $450 if I had a local branch.

Chase offers this deals always, look on eBay for Chase coupons.

I opened Chase checking account with direct deposit setup (no specified amount) for 300$ bonus
Plus open saving account for 90 days with minimum average balance of 10k for 150$ bonus = total $450.

If you are military, there are no minimums or fees for the acct you open. And an allotment for $500 total per month works ...only takes a month. You get the dough, stop the allotment, and you can keep the account with no fees.

If either the checking or savings account is closed within six months after opening, we will deduct the bonus amount for that account at closing.

Takes 6 Months with open account.

I heard that a ACH transfer, say from TDAmeritrade will qualify as a "DD of 500" to keep the fees off this account, as well to qualify for the DD bonus, is this true?

for checking to avoid the monthly fee, direct deposit 500 monthly for this one you can take out the money right away right you dont' need to leave it there? so DD then next day take it out it still counts as DD and no monthly fee?

So if one did the Direct deposit, and after gettign the monies, transfer'd it out and closed the account after taking the bonus monies out as well, would one then owe them $300...? IE - would it now show as a -$300 balance after deduction?

No ACH transfers are not direct deposit. Direct Deposit is when you have your employer directly deposit money in your account. There are ways to simulate this I heard paypal sometimes works but its not guarnteed

Yes, as long as you DD you dont have to maintain a balance

I dont think its YMMV, it cant be done online but nothing prevents you from driving to a chase bank. Its no different than if you didn't have a Taco Bell in your area. If you want I can put B&M in the title.
