friendly note, there have been multiple complaints about lenovo's wifi cards. In the newer models it seems to be less of a problem but some of the earlier built ones have been known to have a very weak wifi card. Replacement is easy, but its still a cost.

Some of the reviews indicate problems with the build quality and battery life ...

I have one and have no problem with battery life. That is the price you pay with a touch screen.

How long would you say it lasts for normal use (browsing/Office)? Thanks!

Also, are battery/HDD/RAM user-replaceable?

Honestly I don't know. It has a touchscreen so I expected that battery would be less. I can tell you that I used it for 4 hours yesterday an less than 1/2 charge. HDD and ram are replaceable but may not be easy. Check for a you tube video.

Yesterday I was ready to send back, but this is a pretty nice unti for the price. The screen is awesome (but I had to turn it to full brightness), sound is great and very loud. It boots in less than 10 seconds. I was comparing it to my thinkpads and of course this is no comparison to a business machine with a matte screen.

I noticed there are complaints about wirless card but I have none. I live in a 2500 sq ft home and my router is on second floor on opposite end of my kitchen. I can get 5 bars in my kitchen and my home has a lot of the foil covered rigid foam insulation. It gets as good a signal as my x220 and 230.

What are your thoughts on the touchpad? I've heard mixed reviews regarding the quality of the touchpads as of late.

Seemed fine to me but I use a mouse and also used the screen. This is a good value.

How does this compare to the Z40-70? Same specs, but the z40 has a 2 GB nvidia gt820m gpu
