OOS for shipping but store pick up is still available for that price

Careful.. Now changing to BT (No Noise Cancellation) model when you search. Could be dead.

These units ship with AAC/AptX turned off. Be sure to enable it by holding down Volume + button while holding Power button for 2 seconds during powerup. The unit will flash red led to show battery level then blue led to show audio mode. You want blue led to flash 3 times. Details of audio modes are in this help guide: http://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/zx7...index.html

That's a pretty sweet deal! If only the mic had a mute button!

I just picked one up using movers coupon. I think this is stock system price mistake. The pick slip and receipt lists mdrzx770bt which is the bluetooth without noise cancelling model. The online order and order receipt matches the actual unit I picked up which is the mdrzx770bn.

how is this comparing to Bose sound link on ear? I had bose sound link and really love it, but I travel a lot so I need noise cancelling w/Bluetooth.

I think Soundlink will sound better. I have Bose Quietcomfort 15 which are considered inferior to sound quality of Soundlink. I feel these Sony are more bass-y and less bright than QC15, but the QC15 got better clarity after breaking in for a month or so. Maybe these will sound better after breaking in too.

I have played around with these Sony for past hour or so and these are my impressions:

Not quite as comfortable as QC15 but still very comfortable. Sony reshaped the ear pads to make opening larger and egg shaped to ensure it sits around ear lobes even with larger ears. Heavier than QC15 but feels lighter than other Bluetooth headphones I have used.

Bluetooth connection holds very stable even at range and through walls. These Sony hold connection without stutter/skip in situations my other bluetooth headphones have problems. NFC pairing worked well with my Samsung S4 running kitkat stock, but my LG G2 on lollipop stock said it did not support tag (manual pairing worked fine).

Build quality is decent and I like tha matte finish. The rotating ear cup hinge has less resistance than I would like. On the other hand, this probably keeps headphones comfortable during head turn motions.

The noise cancelling is not as good as Bose (which is best available), but does good job with low frequencies and cuts about 50% of midrange noise. Higher frequency noises are maybe 30% muffled. I found that I had to cycle the noise cancelling modes a few times (holding down NC button down for 3 seconds) before it landed on the mode that gave me best noise suppression. Overall, in my limited testing, I would say these Sony can provide 50-70% of the noise cancellation offered by Bose. I would expect Bose to be better on flights, but I am expecting Sony to be adequate for the times I commute by bus/train/subway where I may still want to hear some external sounds. I plan on taking these out on my commute to San Francisco via bus/BART/CALTrain/Ferry next week to see how they fare.

I do like the different ways these headphones can be used: bluetooth audio without nc, bluetooth audio with nc, nc only, wired audio with nc, passive wired audio (when battery completely depleted).

I think it is good deal at this price, especially if you have movers coupon that knocks it down to $134.99 before taxes.

Hello, ordered one, thanks.

It seems BESTBUY has the prices for the two types mixed up since checking UPCs on amazon prices are reversed, it makes sense for the models with noise cancelling to be more expensive, I will make sure that I got the right ones when I pick them up.

Please note that you can get them cheaper with this bestbuy deal, just add some filler product and should get it for less than having to use the movers coupon, which is not stackable by the way, I tried.

great input but no mention of the actual sound quality, can you weigh in on that?

I mentioned sound quality in first paragraph. Out of the box, it sounds bit more bass biased and muffled on the high frequencies than QC15. The nice thing is bluetooth audio quality does not differ noticeably whether nc is engaged or not. The audio does get tinny sounding in passive mode (unpowered via audio cable) but that is expected.

I haven't tried phone calls yet, so don't know how mic does.

Noise cancellation introduces minimum hiss unlike lower end cancellation methods (looking at you Beats).

Thanks for the tip. Gonna return first order to save extra money. Thankfully, the store is not too far from here.
