Gaming laptops are typically 6lbs+ but this one is much thinner/lighter so it's actually worth carrying around Smilie

That is one nice-looking gaming laptop. I'm surprised at the weight being under 5 pounds.

By the way, it looks like two-day shipping is free. The default option is free 3-5 day shipping, but you can change it to two-day shipping without being charged anything extra.

I haven't seen anything with comparable CPU, GPU, and screen for $750 posted here.

I was very close to getting this for this price, but all the ports are on the back, it's not 1995 anymore we actually use usb ports and putting them in the least accessible place possible is a big no no!

I am guessing thats due to being thinner in front. Kinda like those hdtv's with 1/2" thick screens, but have 6" thick base. my laptop has ports on back, hdmi and DP I think and I actually prefer far

I haven't either. The only comparable product I have seen lately is the Acer V15, which was also for $899.99 (reference link).

Speaking of which, would others say this OMEN is better than that Acer V15? OMEN has SSD, whereas the V15 has a HDD. OMEN has 2GB GeForce GTX 860M, whereas the V15 has 4GB GTX 960M. This OMEN has touchscreen, which is a nice addition. There are other differences, such as the OMEN has one more USB 3.0 port.

I can't decide between the two. I just recommended both to a friend and he is now leaning towards the OMEN.

Thoughts on this versus the $900 Acer [newegg.com]with better CPU (4720) and GPU (960) for the same price with no rebates?

Similar battery life, this is about half a pound lighter, Acer has all ports on the right (annoying) and this has all ports on the back (also annoying).

Unfortunately neither has real buttons with the touchpad.

Although not new, this is pretty comparable spec-wise for $521.99 w/ 10% off coupon:
LINK

The main differences are this HP has the i7-4710HQ whereas the Lenovo has the i7-4700HQ.
Also, this has a 256 GB mSATA SSD, while the Lenovo has an 1 TB HDD + 8 GB SSD Hybrid Drive

This is still a decent deal for new... however, I'm sure we'll start to see a lot more laptop deals coming out in a couple months as Back To School season approaches and the new 5th Gen i7 series Processors [crn.com] roll out.

860m and 960m are (probably) the same gpu, gm107 which is a 640 cuda core first gen maxwell. 960m has slightly faster clock speeds

(Probably, because it is possible that the 860 is an 1152 core kepler, but i am pretty sure the acer nitro used maxwell).

Curious about the "8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Memory (onboard)". Does that mean you can't replace that memory module? Is it expandable beyond the 8GB?

I would get this if offered without a touch screen for $100 less. I don't need touchscreen for a gaming laptop and the battery life is short anyways.

Memory is soldered.
