What is the funniest, strangest, most off the wall reason a cashier has given you for NOT taking your coupons?

Thread Details

I was just reading the April issue of Refund Cents and this question was asked in their Readers Speak section. So credit goes to them. Smilie

But I enjoyed reading the answers so much, I thought it would be fun to hear yall's answers.

I had a freebie coupon that 7-11 offers when downloading the app. The coupon was for a free slurpee.

So as soon as I walk into the store, I tell the cashier that I'm going to use the free slurpee coupon I got from downloading the 7-11 app. The cashier didn't really pay any attention to me so I just went to fill up my slurpee.

Came back to the cashier with my slurpee in hand, showed him the DIGITAL coupon (on the 7-11 app) and he said "we don't accept digital coupons". I got pretty furious because the coupon had like a 5-minute timer to redeem it once you open it and I already had it open. He started yelling at me and stuff. I got pretty frustrated so I put my phone under the scanner (to scan the coupon) and it worked!!!

That jerk then reversed the charges and yelled at me more. I put the slurpee down and said that I wasn't going to pay for this because my coupon worked. He started arguing with me more and said that since I already filled it up, I had to pay for it and that I didn't tell him when I walked in even though I did.

The timer ran out and I eventually ended up paying for that slurpee, but I regret it soooo much. I should have just put it down and left the store, what could he possibly have done. I never shop there again even though it is right next to my mosque.
I'd copy and paste this post to 7/11 Facebook and add the location where this happened. I'm sure they will reach out to you and possibly send you another freebie. Good luck and sorry that happened. I too am growing weary of cashiers that can't read or understand coupons. Last week I had a Manager of grocery store tell me I could only use 1 arm & hammer mq because it said one coupon per purchase. He read the coupon for 20 minutes. I purchased a scratch off crossword lottery ticket and scratched all letters and searched the puzzle for winning words and did not rush while he stared at the coupon the entire time. Eventually he allowed me to use more than 1 coupon but that was after I blew up on him. He was waiting for me to give in and i did not give in. I sure was boiling mad that he wasted my time.

CVS the other day for my CVS e-mailed ($3/2 Neutrogena) coupon.

"Well, this isn't scanning or working for me so... it says it's good until the 15th, you could come back again and use it."
"I bought these items today specifically to use this."
"Well aren't you a party pooper! Now I have to call a manager and I'll get yelled at later for it!"
"...."
