What is the funniest, strangest, most off the wall reason a cashier has given you for NOT taking your coupons?

I could never use a coupon because every time i show that coupon, the cashier points to "coupon valid on you next visit"

Awwww, cute widdle n00b. Comfort Chat threads don't count towards post count. I wanted everyone who could/would particpate to see it. So I made it a chat thread. At least that was my reasoning. But now I wonder, if you search by tags, does it leave out the chat threads? I bet it does. nod

Iíve had coupons denied for all sorts of crazy reasons but today was a new dose of ridiculousness.

The cashier at CVS insisted that I could not use coupons of any type (manufactureís, CVS, ECB) on clearance items. I didnít believe her and asked for a supervisor. He tried to explain that they would have to take the coupons off manually and they didnít like doing that. I pointed out that the item scanned so the coupon would scan also and the supervisorís response was ďI know it will scan but we still canít take it because it is on clearance.Ē

Then the cashier wouldnít take a 3/10 CVS brand because only products that say ďCVSĒ on them count. Confused

It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Admit nothing, deny everything and make counter-accusations.

These are some great reasons! I will have to use them the next time I feel like denying someone the use of their coupon at the store I work at Coverlaugh

If I only had a penny for every time I've heard that one.

Once I used a CVS printout dollar off coupon, the cashier asked me whether I had a colored copy. I said I didn't have a color printer. She took it.nod nod nod
A week ago, I tried to use 5 off 15 at CVS. The cashier read the coupon and told me this coupon was a copy and they wouldn't honor photocopies. Confused ConfusedThen she waved the coupon to her manager asking her whether it's a copy. The manager said yes, it looked like a copy to me. Mad Mad Mad I went back the second day with a color copy. She accepted it without saying a word. My new color printer is working hard now.laugh out loud laugh out loud

I had a funny thing happen to me last night. I went to CVS, bought about $16 worth of items and I used $5 off $15 purchase... she scanned it, no problem. Then I wanted to use my ecb and she said I couldn’t because it’s only one $off coupon per customer. Confused
I explained to her that ecb are not really coupons and they are as good as cash at CVS. She scanned them reluctantly, but then she gave them all back to me saying they are mine and she can’t keep them. I surely took them back and I’ll be using them again! LMAO

I was buying verbatum dvd's on sale for $19.99 and I had a $10 off $20 coupon.. the cashier kept looking at me like I was the crazy one.. she kept saying, "you're already getting $40-50 off because it's on sale".. like only an idiot wouldn't appreciate such savings off their overpriced merchandise by trying to use a coupon on it..

My problem was that the item was 19.99 and the system needed at least 20.00 on the receipt to take off the $10. I had a manager override the price to 20.01, and it still wouldn't work. So, I had to find something in the clearance bin to go over.

They wont scan again. If a cashier does push them through for you it will possibly throw up a red flag. I have rang someone up before and scanned their ECB then had to void it and then re-ring and the register would not accept the ECB again even though they had been voided. Of course I did over ride those for her, but I don't recommend trying to reuse ECB.

try not using them again..also try returning the ECBs to the store where you used them...might save the cashier from getting into trouble too.

I was buying my annual Xmas gift for my dad - a 3 pack of Fruit of the Loom standard white undershirts but because they're officially called t-shirts on the package, she couldn't take it because t-shirts ARE NOT underwear. I went through the whole "t-shirts are a short way of saying "undershirts" - no go. I then asked her if she would take the coupon on a package of ladies thongs or hipsters - because, that also, wouldn't be officially called "underpants" on the package.

I then asked for the manager, who also agreed with her. I asked her if she's never seen the Fruit of the Loom commericials and don't the two click in her head? She then came up with the reason that because the product wasn't exactly on the front of the coupon, she couldn't take it anyway. I was trying to "fraud Kmart and she could have me arrested". I then told her I wanted to take her up on the offer since it would be so GREAT to talk to corporate about the stupidity of their workers!
