Home Depot has the RIDGID GEN5X 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Combo Kit (5-Piece) for the "Special Introductory Offer" of $399 through July. Some Home Depot stores will accept the 20% Harbor Freight coupon to bring the price down to $320.

When the cashier entered the coupon, the register displayed that a manager's approval was required. I was then informed that a markdown of more than $50 requires the manager's approval. Perhaps that's why some people are getting $50 discounts when their HF coupons were not accepted. Unfortunately many Home Depot stores don't accept the Harbor Freight coupons but I'm glad that my current local store is not one of them. There is a Harbor Freight store around 1 mile from the Home Depot but I don't know if that's a factor. I have never had any luck with Lowes accepting a HF coupon.

I've been watching videos on these babies. They look killer! I have the X4s and really love them as a first time homeowner doing DIY. Ridgids rock!

Hitachi has lifetime on its 18v stuff, 2 years on the battery. Ever try to get Rigid to honor a warranty? Not easy my friend.

People should be more informed on this and thank you for pointing it out.

Unless you follow what rigid ask to the T, they will deny your warranty. Rigid does not warranty batteries for life anymore.

Oh, the irony of someone telling others to be informed and then following it up with bad information.

Ridgid batteries are warrantied for life still if bought in a combo kit, such as this one. Batteries bought alone are not eligible for the lifetime warranty. You do have to create an account at Ridgid and register the product within 90 days to get the warranty. Registration is online and almost as easy as spreading bad information in forums.

For me, I walked into a home depot with 8 year old batteries a month ago. Two brand new ones were on my doorstep a week later without a penny from my pocket. I didn't receive any pushback anywhere during the painless process. I registered the replacement batteries and they are now covered for life.

A TTI rep was the one who informed me that Rigid does not do lifetime warranties on batteries anymore. Take that for what it is worth.

Also not all Home Depot service tools...out of my town only 1(the top volume works with servicing tools).

please provide the source of where it says that, because right in the GEN5X description it says "The GEN5X 5-piece Combo Kit consisting of a Hammer Drill, Impact Driver, Circular Saw, Reciprocation Saw and an LED Flashlight is full of best-in-class features that are backed by the industry's best warranty, the RIDGID Lifetime Service Agreement; free Batteries, free Parts, free Service and For Life."

Here we go again. I don't know why it is SO important for some guys in every Ridgid post, to spread these lies.

BTW, I had to use Hitachi warranty, but service center is over 100 miles away, so it would cost me $20 to ship my item for "free" warranty. So there you go.
HD can handle most, (all?) Ridgid warranty in store, no charge on shipping either way.

Straight from Ridgid website:

Lifetime Service Agreement

The original purchaser of an eligible product may elect to register for a free Lifetime Service Agreement. To accept this Lifetime Service Agreement, you must register your product and submit proof of purchase for processing approval as described below. The Lifetime Service Agreement provides the original owner of qualifying RIDGID(R) Brand tools a lifetime of free replacement batteries, free service and free replacement parts subject to the limitations set forth below.

The Lifetime Service Agreement is available free of charge, on all eligible RIDGID(R) Brand hand held power tools, stationary power tools and pneumatic tools, subject to the terms and conditions stated below. Customers have 90 days from date of purchase to register tools for the Lifetime Service Agreement. Once all conditions of the registration process are fulfilled, the tool's service coverage lasts the lifetime of the original purchaser. The Lifetime Service Agreement status on a tool is not transferable to persons other than the original purchaser. Note: The RIDGID Lifetime Service Agreement is only available for eligible RIDGID tools purchased at THE HOME DEPOT.
