Contrary to Nvidia's specs on the web, this card has 3.5 GB of 196 GB/s VRAM (not 224 GB/s) and .5 GB of 28 GB/s VRAM (not 224 GB/s). So, it's really a 3.5 GB card, if you're talking about normal high-speed VRAM. 28 GB/s is very slow -- half the speed of a midrange GPU from 2007 (8800 GT).

Nvidia claims its management didn't know about the specs being wrong (wrong ROP count, wrong cache amount, wrong VRAM speed claim, slow 28 GB/s partition with XOR contention) but clearly hasn't made an effort to even correct its own website.

Good deal, I picked it up yesterday. The SSC 2.0+ has the exact same board and features as the FTW+ minus the backplate and slightly lower clocks. This comes with the backplate and you can OC the card to give FTW+ speeds.

This is essentially the FTW+

Faster in what? They will be running about the same on the same clock speed.

Haven't compared myself as I'm hoping for price drops with Fiji... but better binning, better attention to detail (quality of VRM cooling, thermal adhesives, etc), and better choice of non-reference components (again VRMs being a good example) can cause noticeable differences. The differences get particularly large when you start overclocking. From my cursory reading as an example the FTW is a better bin than the SSC, so even when clocked the same the FTW will potentially run cooler and faster (likely less than 1FPS difference real world). If both overclocked to max FTW should be able to go further.

This is the improved second edition fixing all the problems they had with their original 970 release.

This video gives a good explanation of all the changes.

$15 more since it doesn't have the promotion code and the shipping is not free.

The main reason I went EVGA was the step up program, I can move up to a 980 TI if I want a few months down the road.

I love EVGA, but some of those reviews speak of multi monitor issues... With more than one monitor.

The step up-aka ripoff program? You'd get more money back selling the card yourself on ebay/craigslist. And yes the G1 does have free shipping on newegg, not sure what you're looking at
