Other World Computing has an Open Box Seagate 2.5" HD Enclosure (SEXTDBAS2.5) for $2.75 + S&H. My total including shipping was $6.88. Includes a USB 3.0 cable.

What makes the deal even better is that Sext is in the model number.

Nice find! Repped. Clips may come damaged but according to the reviews the enclosure still works great.

I've taken these apart before and noticed that in the photo also. Shouldn't affect performance at all... throw a cheapie HD cover on it and you're good. Great price for USB3 and cable, even with S&H charge.

OWC (or one of their suppliers) has a habit of pulling/harvesting bare HDDs from (brand name retail packaged) external/portable USB HDDs by the hundreds/thousands and then selling the USB enclosures for dirt cheap -- probably thanks to manufacturers' occasional marketing practice of selling bare or retail internal HDDs for more than external USB ones. It's a good deal as you get a quality enclosure (vs. cheap/generic brand, albeit pried open with broken tabs and double sided tape as the enclosures were never intended to be installed/reused by end users) and for 3.5" enclosures, a properly made 12VDC AC adapter (I bought six HGST "4TB" 3.5" enclosures for 99c each + just under $10 shipping 2 years ago).

All the more power to them. They get a cheap drive, and we get a great deal. Win/Win
